Chickahomney is toast. It was practically dry last year and snow fall in the area is around 50% of average. It's going to be a rough year for the eastern OR lakes in general. Even the ODFW recreation report states that they can't recommend traveling long distances to try Chick. Can't say for Thompson.

Thompson valley fished very poorly for me last year.I blame water quality issues and very bad algae blooms. I heard of a fish die off there last year at mid summer. ODFW still stocks it three times a year and it got some extra fish last year before labor day so? Always a chance of a big fish there. The previous two years I had some good days there.Bass as well as nice Rainbows.

Thanks for the info so far. I figured Chic was toast. There last year in april and couldn't launch the boat. Just hoping.
Did have much luck at Thompson last year. We were there in late May. Water was murky, but it useally is. It was low also. Figured maybe could get in early this year because of the low snow levels

You might try calling "The Paitent Angler" a fly shop in Bend Or. Peter might have some info for you. If you are going to Fish Chicchomney try a lite weighted black chenile with grizzley hackle, woolybugger, its a standard fly, but sure catches fish.
