Default Pyramid Lake Nevada

Myself and a couple buddies from work spent a day out on Pyramid Lake last week. We were fortunate enough to boat 4 fish of which the biggest was 24 inches and 6 pounds. We had great success trolling a watermelon apex behind a sling blade. I tried some other tackle ie: kwikfish, lymans, spoons, flatfish but only caught fish on the Apex and one on Capt. Kens double flutter spoon. It was a great trip and fishery that I would truly recommend to anyone. I know I will be back.

Thanks for the report, it brings back memories. I used to live in Incline Village and fished Pyramid several times. Its kind of their equivalent of our bull trout fishery at LBC. We used to troll Hus Lures by Luhr Jensen and different Rapalas. Did you see the guys on step laddders? In Jan and Feb these guys would wade out to 4 feet of water and set up a step ladder, stand or sit on the thing all day and cast out for cutts. It didn't look like a very comfortable way to fish, but they would land the occasional 15 lber.

Lived in Reno for about 10 years during/after college, and fished Pyramid from the bank quite a bit. We never did THAT great at catching, but the fishing sure was nice.

There's some nice hot springs right off the shore on the north side, you could actually lay in the lake in about 100degree water while it was snowing if you found the right spots. Those guys on the ladders always cracked me up, but they would pull in some real monsters occasionally.

Looks like the "Nets" to me thats where the hatchery is and lots of fish return at a certain time of year and the fishing gets good. I Never did the ladder thing but my younger brother does, them boys customize some ladders like you would not believe, we did a lot of shore fishing with spoons, cast out as far as you can and let it hit bottom then jig it back to shore, often we would run a short leader off the spoon with a black woolly bugger and would pick up quite a few with the fly. Fun place to fish. Its a bizaar lake as it would sometimes turn over and some crazy looking moon rock mudball looking things would show up. Love the color of it though.
