up here in washington I start going it in the spring time due to them being in deeper water, any lighted dock at night should have them, more at some docks, use the gammie herring jigs the smallest ones you can get start at the bottom and jig, pretty simple, probly gonna be another herring shortage this year so it will propbly be a good idea. Look4elk, go out into the Yaquina (newport) bay from S. Beach Marina and head upriver. You will pass several docks on your right as you do this. When you get to the last dock you should see a huge green tank on the far shore about 1/2 mile away (looks to be dead ahead). Head towards the tank and anchor near the cove you see just before you get to the tank.

In this general vicinity there was a school of herring and at times schools of anchovie all last summer. They usually show up in Feb. every year. Last year they never left. You can call S. Beach Marina and ask if they have showed up in the moorage yet. They will come into the docks for a few weeks every year, usually in Feb also.

Does anyone have the # to S. Beach Marina?

For boat pursuit, go to the green tank and fish in the cove there. They should be in by now.
