Guide boat down on the Hoh
Details to come...
I think someone was hurt, from what I heard.
Waiting for another phone call.
Don't listen to others... Wear your life jackets! They do you NO good flopped under the seats.

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
I just can't get over this.
Remember the gal that can run rapids that other men are afraid of?
Remember the gal who makes fun of people wearing life jackets?
Remember the gal who says that the Hoh is a piece of cake?
She flipped, that www.flippingoddess.com girl, that Fishgal mentioned on PP.
And her new Willie boat-- with soggy leather seats.
I hope the passenger is alright.
I got a phone call today, don't know the details yet, so, so far this is just what I have heard.
Facts, I am sure, will be out soon.

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
Hey Jjen, I'm not saying not to wear liifejackets, but aalot of "boateater"slots based on hydraulics will take you under even with a lifejacket. Especiially if you are wearing a standard lifejacket and not a class 3/5 whitewater jacket. Heck, I even had a few friends who have died in whitewater vests, som hydraulics well take you under and keep you under no matter what. We had to fish a person out about 10 years ago on upper Nisqually who couldn't get ouu of he compressiion/undertow of a hydraulic.
For most part, most of these vest people are wearing aren't esinged for river work. Plus, not aas much forgiveness in a DB VS an inflatable. We hit and bounced, whereas a DB can swing uup and once water comes over the gunwhales and start sucking you down, you're through.
Did you hear where it happened on the Hoh? Rock garden or Ooxbow?? Ccan't really think of any other place on that river that would do iit. Unless it was a pure misread of a slot.
Hmmmmmmmm.

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
I don't know ANY details.
Bob's Mom (from PP) called me a couple times tonight, and this is all she knew.
Yeah, you are right about the life jackets.
I don't know where, who, what. I heard that it was Angie in the hospital.
I am glad that no one was seriously injured.
Angie is really mean to people.
I guess I should rise above that.
I'm trying.

Steele69...........Oxbow! Boat behind her said it was not that bad. He was able to save her gear but as of dark no boat has been located. Even those who she has treated so badly and unjustly wish her a full and speedy recovery.

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
What a strange twist of fait this is. Now how did N. A. get in the bow of her boat? The hoh is on the drop so it may be possible to see the boat as it clears up....then again it may show up two years from now on a log jam. The spot where she went down...(in the boat) gets a couple a year.

There is a rumor, unconfirmed, that Nick Amato was in the boat.

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
Angie has been a thorn in a lot peoples side for quite a while now. I dont agree with her, and her tabloid style of writing. I cant wait to hear what the excuse is But one thing for sure, her passenger will be able to confirm or correct the excuse why the boat went down.
Nice post pete
Edit: Since Brian and others took offense to my opinion of Angie, I will just remove it and wish them well. Not worth the effort to tell the newcomers the whole story. :depressed:

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
Though I don't share in all the negative sentiment and bashing that y'all choose to be doing, I will let you know that Angie is fine and was only in the Hospital for a couple of hours. They will be pulling her boat out today and it seems she lost most of her gear. They had had a great day of fishing and catching hard, very hard to have any day end in tragedy.

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
I have never heard of her until today. Of course wish her to recover and it seems that is already on the way. I went to her website and it is very mean spirited. Such pompass crap. Really i would like to say is that after reading several post in the archives ( hours and hours) and making some of my own in the last month that I have found no ill will until today. I can see by the website of the victom that women had ( mean spirit) that indeed it should be a wake up call to take life alttle more easy. After 9/11 does this accident make a hoot of differnce in life? Heck yes. Slow down and enjoy life and don't toss rocks at some else's enjoyment. I flyfish for my own reasons. I don't need to justify it to anyone for anyreason. I hope she has seen the white light and comes back stronger for it.

I would never wish anyone to sink there boat or be put in the position that they could possibly die. Hope everyone (clients) is fine and a quick recovery. I may not like the way she writes or seems to treat people but don't wish her any ill will like that.

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
I am amazed and disgusted!
Bait of Eggs and other for you all to make comments like, "Hoh, Ho, Hoe... Not sure how you pronounce it, but it seems to be a fitting river for Angie to go down on." Is simply rude and base! You have no idea if anyone was hurt or even worse and yet the attacks and insinuations freely flow from your finger tips onto a message board for the world to read. You are know by what you write on this board and for all of you to take pot shots at a person who might be (but it is unlikely) dead is not something to be proud of.
You claim Bait o Eggs that Ifish is a great place where people respect and care for eachother and yet the only two times that I have noticed your posts you have attacked people. I am sure that most of your posts here on ifsh are nice and pleasant enough but your words are sharp and you're quick to put someone down even when they are already down. You might want to rethink how you treat people in an open forum when you don't have any thing nice to say about them. It seems as if you and others write the first things you think of and that is no way to communicate. Take a little while to realize that what you write is here for all to read and that you might come off looking a little foolish.
To gloat over someone's misfortune... I guess you said it best Bait O Eggs when you wrote, "You can feel that way if you want, its a free country, but when you have a flat tire and need a hand, or your stuck on a muddy boat ramp, don't ask me to help you. I got no use for people who are all" blah, blah, blah.... It is amazing how impetuous words will come back to haunt you... I guess Angie was one of those people you wouldn't help, even if her boat went down Hoh.

Brian - I wont argue with you it just isnt worth the effort. :depressed:
I will ask if you know who Angie is? She is a cruel person that has spent the last year making fun of my friends on her webpage. She has not pulled any punches while she makes fun of my friends. Must be a reason she has been banned from discussion boards.
I have read the accounts today on the 3 major fishing boards and have read that nobody was seriously hurt. I am glad nobody was seriously hurt.

Bryan, I think I'd like to meet meet you some day, you sound like my kind of fisher.
I've read Angies stuff and I rather enjoy alot of it. Time on the waters is not always happy happy joy joy, Angie simply writes about the idiots and jerks that we all know are out there. Maybe the people that put her and her site down are intimidated by a good looking woman that fishes better than them???

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
Jennie,
I know I promised not to come here and cause problems, but..
It is apparent to me that some people don't know the difference between good, clean fun, and harmful, hurtful comments meant to cause others harm.
As I posted on Marty's board, her supporters are as bad and as guilty as she is. Without her audience, she would never have bothered.
I am not the type to wish harm to another human being.
In this case, she did it to herself. Her own ego- pumping and out of control bragging, put her into a situation she was not capable of handling. So, with all do respect, all of her supporters can share the blame for encouraging her to believe she was qualified and capable, when clearly she is not.

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
smj...what a bunch of crock! If you enjoy the
writings of a sick puppy who thrives on slander and libelous writing, then you, too, are pathetic.
She has not written about jerks as you put it.
She has written about people who are an asset to
the fishing world and their families and most who SHE DOES NOT KNOW and has never met. She puts her own children's picture
in with the ***** crap she has had on her site.
When she gets back in that boat or any other boat,
she needs to do it as a non guide so she doesn't
jeopardize the lives of others. (including her children) And now she has the experience to write the truth about flipping
a boat. Now is the time for her to do a reality
check....she was an accident waiting to happen.
What a way to start a marriage...she just got
back from her honeymoon.

Posh, You must have spent alot more time on her site than I have, I spend 99% of my time here.
I got a question for ya', when all the little asterics (sp) show up in a post do you actualy type in the swear words (and let the filter censor them), or do YOU put in the asterics (sp)? I've always wondered that.

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
SMJ,
Have you ever seen or read any of the post the "Fishing Goddess" has made on any of the NW BB's (when she was allowed to)??? It did not matter how you replied, if your opinion was different from hers the attacks were relentless. Go figure that she has been banned from all of the boards like this that you have to register to post on. She still posts on NW fishing (no registration required) and is sniffed out by everyone as soon as it shows up. She may (or may not) know how to fish and maybe deep down inside she is a kind hearted person, but the person she choses to show on these boards is mean and cruel. It is no surprise to me that the reaction to her misfortune has been the way it has been on all 3 major NW boards. Remember my friend ya reap what ya sow!!! I am sure that no one would like to see her or her clients hurt, maybe just a little humility thrown into her life wouldn't hurt.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
Jeffhead et al, I am neither all in favor or all against any body. You that talk of someone elses cruelty while posting the things I saw on Bobs board WOW! And to see our own sweet Jennie posting on a thread that would be killed on this board before it got a chance to gather steam. I guess you're right, I haven't seen enough of what Angie has said in the past on the bb's though. I guess I just choose to keep most of my bad opinions of some of the posters on these boards to myself. You know what they say about opinions.

Free speach:
Our rights like free speach, seperation of church and state and ect. Are the rights of all people in this country. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it shouldn't be said. I can't stand the relgious right or what they stand for. But they have the right to say what they say. I will fight for their rights to speak freely though. Besides then I know what they are up to and can help fight against them.
I really don't know this person. I hate to hear of anyone getting in a accident. If she shouldn't be a guide then maybe folks should file complaints against her thru some type of channels. If you don't like what she is saying don't listen or read her stuff. By the sound of some these posts she has already made part of her bed. What goes around will come around.

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
Well smj....I didn't use a swear word. I had no idea that a word from the dictionary used to describe inappropriate pictures and
material would be blocked. You need to ask Jenny
how the system works.
And if you enjoy her lies and slander that she has written about very nice people, then you are
of the bully type that we read about and hope our kids never have to deal with.
Notice that she does not have a forum on her site.
She builds up her ego by hiding behind a computer.
Perhaps her ego got her in trouble yesterday. And since you haven't spent any time on her site, then you have no idea what you are talking about.
There's a 1000 reasons why sympathy is lacking.
Freedom of speech DOES NOT mean a free reign. Some people are disgusted??? And that is all I am
saying on this subject.

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
I just went and looked at this Angie's page.
I am sure glad Jennie is around to run this board. She has certainly proven who the bigger person and sweeter woman is. But there is always someone like Angie in the crowd. Although she has a right to say what she does. What is sad is she may endanger someone elses life in her quest to be a guide.
I look forward to seeing ifish grow. I certainly know who the better fisherwoman is.

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
Well Posh,
This is not a political forum so all I will say is Just becuase you or someone else may find something disgusting doesn't mean they don't have a right to say/print/read it. Reguardless of the subject matter. Free speach doesn't mean anyone as to approve of what is being said or posted on a website. I certainly don't agree with alllot things out there but people have the right to say it with very few restrictions. Even if people are being offended.
Thats all I have to say.
Lets get back talkin fishin

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
Gosh, I just realized how funny this could actually be.
Can you imagine the headlines in the local newspaper...
(nevermind, I shouldn't say it)
Those of you who are creative can come up with your own!!

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
Spent some time today checking other boards and I've seen almost a unanimous outpouring of dislike towards this gal. There is truth in numbers and I can accept that but what I dont understand is her logic. Fishing seems to rely so much on word of mouth that I dont understand why someone who wants to be a guide so badly would alienate the very people who could cause her business to prosper. I'm seeing an Ebeneezer Scrooge scenario here, hope she can sit down and reflect on some of the things she's said and done and come away enlightened. Seems to me she's been given a second chance, after she swallows that big ugly crow, lets hope she learns how to make some friends instead of enemies.
p.s. I'm learning not to comment on a post till I become more informed, the only problem is, I'm a slow learner

Re: Guide boat down on the Hoh
I think we should probably move on.
We don't have more news on the incident.
Each of us has an opinion.
When we have more news, we'll post it.
The incident is tragic, no matter who was involved.
I know some very excellent guides who have dumped a boat, or at least come close. Just be careful out there, OK?
Closing the thread for now.
