Default PGE "habitat" power

Let's see if this thing will go ...

Power options

I think I will go for it, it figures out to between $8 and $12 per month. Somebody has to support this thing, like spending more to buy recycled paper ...

I'm down with paying a bit more for my power, to know it's helping the environment. I have to say I was pretty dissapointed with the Habitat option. They claim to be "Salmon Friendly", but how is that extra scratch going about tearing out the dams? We all know that's the problem.

I don't mean to lambast the organization that will spend the extra money on the watersheds. I just think a salmon friendly option from the #1 killer of salmon should actually go about changing things.

The Renewable option provides the same sort of power (non-hydro). And I can spend the remaining cash on stamps, sending letters to get the dams torn out or re-designed to allow a natural river to pass.

I disagree that the dams are the primary problem. Haven't the non-dammed costal rivers had a similar increase in return numbers? I think it's strip-mining the resource at sea;
those 20 mile long ghost nets drifting and killing everything in their paths.

Dams, logging, housing, gillnets, Indians, seals, sea lions, drift nets, bears, Ifish.net, farms, ranches, sewage, paper mills, Hanford leakage ...

Choose your scapegoat.

Right, the "renewable" option is the same without the donation - make your OWN contributions, certainly a good option ...

I'm skeptical about where all this "geothermal" power comes from. Where are those plants located? Wind power I have seen - (Palm Springs area comes to mind)
