Default Spinger Lures

I was hoping someone could tell me why it is that during springer season most guys use Kwik fish when they anchor and for fall fish they use some sort of wobblers. Is this really the case and if so why? I may be misinformed, so please help me out.

I watched a guy pull up next to me by himself on the willamete in the spring, throw out a chrome alvin (no tape no nothing) .. and catch two fatties in aproximately 40 minutes... he pulled anchor and went home...

to top it off he was that guy that guy that looked like a zoo anchoring etc... you know the type and the situation... and then catches two fish in 40 minutes after I'd been out there for 3 hours w/ out a bump...

Use what you have confindence in. If a lure caught a fall fish it will more than likely catch a springer if you keep it wet long enough. Quick fish, spinners, wobblers, Wiggle warts and huge assortment of hardware will work.

I think It's the same thing with bait from cut plug to whole herring, whole prawns raw, cooked or cooked and cured. Put the prawn on straight or curled? A fast spin on a herring or a slow? A big roll or a small? We catch fish with all of these methods I don't think it matters much, one salmon wants it spinning fast and the next wants it slow. It's the little details and overall approach you use that will catch you fish constantly.

I try not to laugh at the "new guy's" gear, as soon as you do he's limited out and going home. I've seen more day's than I want to remember when the "Dough balls" are the only people catching and the rest of us are enjoying the day bonding.

hooks sharp?

Kwik Fish work very well in the Fall. Had great luck up past Memaloose tied off on the out going. Better action than wobblers, can be bait wrapped, and are alot cheaper too!

I have watched people fish with Quickfish on a lot of smaller rivers in the fall, but haven't seen many QF's on the columbia for the fall run. Fishchaser/anybody, do you use the QF's for fall fish on the Columbia? On a side note, I had a pretty good year at Frenchmans bar last fall. Is frenchmans a productive spot for springers also? Thanks.
