Mono Line Knots ?????

Knots for drifting eggs is the primary question.
I'm using an egg loop knot currently and have lost 2 steelhead the last two trips. Every time the fish breaks my leader, and there is about as much leader left as the length I had rigged up, so I'm thinking that my egg loop is failing me.
I'm using Maxima Perfexion 12 lb., could this be my problem area?
When I make the final four or five wraps and pull the tag through, I careful not to pinch or kink the little loop the gets pulled back through.

i have never had an egg loop fail.....so i would ask if your wetting your tag as u pull it tight...i always "spit" on mono before cinching it down....hope this helps.

I forgot about lubrication. I'll add that to my process.

Have you experimented with a snell knot?

JNR, I would suggest that you not pull your tag line at all. Just clip as short as possible. I learned this one salmon season when I was trying to tie the perfect knots on all my salmon leaders. To my suprise, the ones that broke easiest were the ones that I had tightened the tag end. Since that time I only slightly pull the tag line and then clip. Try this and I'll bet your knot problems will be a thing of the past. Good Luck.

I also had problems with perfexion broke off 3 of 5 fish couple weeks ago. Don't really like it at all
