Best part of the Sportman's Show?
What did you like best about the show?
We spent the better half of Sat. there and didn't see everything.
I enjoyed talking to everyone.. Jennie included.!
Picked up a few good deals.. a couple Okuma Epix 2000 spinning reels.. a few spools of Power pro, and a couple spool so the new Tuf-line XP.
I picked up a coule headsokz for my son and I, these will come in handy on those long runs in cool fall mornings in the willies..
A couple bottles of egg cure (secret sauce)thanks Lyle.
What did you like? The walk?

Re: Best part of the Sportman's Show?
The SAGE driftfishing rod I found for sale. I don't think that my kids get to eat at the end of this month but priorities are priorities.
I have Lyle to thank for that also. He seemed to be a popular guy this weekend.

Re: Best part of the Sportman's Show?
Hey TH, nice to meet you on Saturday.
I guess the thing I liked best about the show was seeing all the old friends and meeting some new ones. Stopped by some of the booths to say hi to people. Saw Jennie, crabbait, salmon shark, TH, fishalot, Coot22(obviously) and many others from the board. Got my hat too. Thanks Jen.
Parking was a $#&*@!!!! I ended up in Delta Park, that's right, DELTA PARK!!! By the soccer fields. Had to walk all the way over. Good thing I've got young legs. My biggest complaint? That they locked all the porta potties on the hike over. Ouch.
The show itself was very crowded and kind of stressful. I got a really great deal on a new rod/reel combo for Oversize and halibut. Picked up a 7' Diawa rod and a Penn reel for $98 bucks. Spooled w/ 370 yrds of 80 lb tuffline, I should be set.
It was a nice show, not too different from years past. If you've been to one, you've been to them all. If I wasn't specifically looking for something I probably wouldn't have paid the 8 bucks to get in and wander about. At least not on a weekend.
My .02 anyways.

Re: Best part of the Sportman's Show?
The show was nice but Saturday was very busy. Parking stunk but the kamikaze bus ride was fun. It was nice to meet Jen in person and buy my Ifish hat.
Jen, thanks for the info on Hustlerjim. I will put it to good use. ;-)

Re: Best part of the Sportman's Show?
I liked the show so well I went 2 days  . I went wed and sun. The thing is too big to see it all in one day. I didnt even get to see it all in 2 days.
I was droolng over the blue Boice boat. I spnt alot of time talking Brett of Rogue Marine, His stealth boat is pretty cool. He my build me my sled. I also spent a fair amount of time at the Allstar booth talking with superfly and Omykiss. Grant was acting like a little kid with a new toy when he picked up that pretty little Sage rod. I saw Bait O Eggs and finally met Gizmo.
About the only things I bought was a coule Brads Wigglers and an Allstar fyrod, I didnt carry enough money on me to by that Boice Boat.

Re: Best part of the Sportman's Show?
I have to say that it was just like all the other shows I have been to in the past. I looked all over for an Ifish hat but couldn't find the boothes that had them. I was hoping to meet a few of you ifishers out there but I didn't see anyone wearing a hat so. I got a big kick out of watching the kids at the trout pond, watching them haul in those lunkers. I must have seen ten kids get whacked in the head by flying fish! How can I forget all the boats, I wish I was rich. I would have to get one of each of them. My girlfreind really was digging all the pretty color combinations on some of the Alumawelds, maybe that means she will buy me one if I am a good boy!!

Re: Best part of the Sportman's Show?
Yes... The Willie predator is awesome.. I really liked Eric Linde's boat.
I got to see Justiin Boice, a high school buddy, glad to hear that he is racing again... probably makes the fastest boat in the industry..
Some of the head mounts were incredible..
spoke with Dave Wilson at Stevens Marine.
the 24' North River was huge.. as was the Monster Alumaweld..
Good eats too..

Re: Best part of the Sportman's Show?
I went Friday. Bought some of the sauce from Lyle(I'll try it on eggs from the fish I caught Saturday).Hope it will make those eggs as killer as he says. Tried to figure out what I could do with the Almar Sounder if I ever came up with an extra $188,000. Wondered about upgrading my 19 1/2' foot Predator to the 24' Raptor.Looked at Justin Boice's boats(Hadn't seen Justin in a couple years, since my son last worked at Paradise Lodge). Nice boats. Bought a few odds and end tackle. Bought my green ifish hat and had my moniker embroidered on it. Drooled over the 24' SuperV. Went home and wondered why I spent so much time looking at boats.

Re: Best part of the Sportman's Show?
The one thing I learned this year - don't wait until the afternoon to go! We were in line to pay the 5$ to park, got about 100 yards from the booths, and they closed the lot. Full! So we parked at PIR, waited about 20 minutes for a shuttle (at least everyone was good-natured about the delay), and then encountered shoulder-to-shoulder aisles.
So, we didn't get to see everything, but finally got to meet Jennie and get a cap. Talked to Trey Carskadon for a while at the Alumaweld display (host of America's Outdoor Journal).
I'd like to have just 1% of the ticket sale revenue, then I could have bought that big Almar that was on display, and maybe tow it behind the houseboat!
John
