Default Buzz Bombs...

Over on Bobs PP there is a post on Buzz Bombs. Some are saying they has great results in the bays up in the Sound area using these jigs. Does anyone here use these in Oregon? Might be fun out in the Ocean when the Silvers are in thick. Not all jigging is snagging

They probaly do catch a few fish, in the mouth. All the ones I have seen caught on a buzz bomb were snagged.

I have used buzz bombs in the sound and in the ocean outside of bouy 10 with good results. they can be fun. They do have a reputation as a snagging tool in the sound area and at the mouths of rivers. They also work good for bottom fish in and around the kelp but do hang up a lot.

In open water these are a very effective lure. They have the bad rap because of the abuse.

I still remember watching a king come after one .... We were jigging on a hard running tide over some flats where you could see the jig at the top of the stroke. Was watching the jig and out of the depths comes a big ole king...  , but he missed :depressed: Still engrained...

Another jig that you may not of heard of is Phish Jigs. These are similar to the buzzbombs inthat they spin. But differ because you can bend them to different shapes. Quality paint too.. A local manufacturer makes them up in my parts

While fishing for Coho up in Juneau they worked great. The hard thing was getting it out past all of the Pinks to the area where the the Silvers were. On the cast where a coho did not strike you had to be very careful not to snag any of the pinks upon the retrieve. In that situation it was my favorite due to the weight because the cast was a long one.

This lure can be 'tuned' to flop like a beat up herring and mooched like bait. It works well because the weight keeps your line tight and you can be right there for the bite.

This is a techinique used in BC. Any BC fishers out there want to go over the tech. for this lure?

fool, you've used these in my boat and I'm sure that you've seen me catch fish with them. In B.C. they use these and alot of other metal jigs for salmon. Last year after limiting out on silvers in the ocean I tied on one of them on my buddies rod, and before he could finish saying "what bites these, spupid fish?" a 25lb chinook came right up under the boat and hit it while it was dangling in the water. Used properly they work very well.

401k,

You must have sold your soul to the devil. You could catch fish out of a toilet.

I have used the "Buzz Bomb" on Lakes for Kokanee and been pretty sucessfull with them. I love the Taste of Kokanee almost better than Salmon. Lots of fun on light gear. Jigging or casting works with a pink or green. I have lost a few too many in Nehalem trying for the silvers from the rocks.

....and Yes just as previously mentioned they have been used all over to snag.
