Default Herring at Newport

Has anyone been jigging for them yet? I went a few times last year and it seems like the first time was Feb. I need some springer bait.

morning grits

i talked to harrys bait friday and he told me that the herring are in but know one was jigging for them yet...he also said that you would need a boat..i'm heading down this saturday with my nephews 11 13 & 14 years old...its a good late afternoon high tide..plus i need to get the boat out for the shake down cruise..let me know if you go down..there excellent for springers!!!
