Default Sturgeon Slamboree 2/10

Launched at Cathedral around 6:00 A.M. and got to watch the sunrise from the river. Four minutes after the two rods were in place, DOUBLES  49 inch we tagged and a 43 inch we let go. We ended up putting 43 fish to the boat for two rods in 5 hours and was back to the ramp at 12:20  We tagged 2 keepers (49 and 48 inch fatties) and let 8 other legals go. Between Friday and today, I have slammed enough sturgies to say I think I'm fished out for a while I can't believe I said that out loud  Tons of boats on the water today, how did everyone do? Straight smelt with zero scent on salmon rods WooHoo!

We launched from the WA side and fished the same spot. 51, 48 and a 43 we kept because he was bleeding very badly from the gills. We also lost 2 very nice bigger fish both to broken lines. Good thing they jumped so we could see them  . It's hard to say how many legals we let go, probly over a dozen and probly several dozen shakers as well. All on fresh smelt, it's hard to believe there have been days sitting in the boat without so much as a bite when the fishing has been so good down there lately.

Bill you went fishing today and not Goose hunting, shame on you. I would have liked to do one of the two, however I stayed home with the family.

Man, that sounds like a blast.Three of us will be heading down on Saturday.we've been to Bonneville and Kalama, and the Kelly point area sounds like the place to be.(Now watch, the fishing will stink this weekend because we're coming down)Oh, well, looking forward to trying somewhere new and heading to the Red Robin for dinner. Thanks for the post TB.
