I Apologize.....
I am so sorry, as soon as my membership became available, I just butted in. I am kinda a newbie at this. Sooooo, I will tell you a little about me. I am a native tomboy of the Portland area, lived here all my life. My father, Red, was an avid fisherman and hunter that grew up in Waldport, Oregon. During my junior High years, my Dad and a few of his friends started The Association of Northwest Steelheaders. I am currently a member, too. He would have been proud of me. He is also a past president before there were chapters. I was with my Dad when I caught my first Chinook below the old 99 bridge in oregon City. It was 32 pound, I was only 65 pounds. When that second chinook did a takedown, I told my Dad I was too tired. Loved to fish from then on. Currently I work in telecommunications for 33 years, ready to retire. I have 1 daughter, Christy, 14 1/2, that lives with her dad in Anchor Point, Alaska. Yes, I pay child support, it is my duty. But it could also have been a boat payment. Work swing with odd days off, do not like it, would like to have normal hours, but in this day and time, I am lucky to still be there and employed. I really enjoy the advice you guys and gals give to me over this garage sale computer. I love the humor and if you meet me in person, or in a boat, I am used to crusty behavior, my Dad was King of Krusty. So are most of my friends. But I miss being in a boat where the fish are. Just like to be friends, for the love of fishing. Keep up the good humor and I will check in and out occasionally, mostly late at nite when everyone is cutting z's. Plz donate to ifish, I will. Think there must be a few of us that worked telecommunications on this site. I retired with 35 years about 5 years ago. Spent many years in the Capital and Oak Street complexes downtown, probably 50/50 days and nights. Spent time in just about every USWest and GTE and AT&T complex in Oregon and many in Washington and other states. Welcome to the Ifish family.

Hello, former and present Telecomunications workers (and thanks for the warm welcome from everyone). Yes, I work in the Oak st bldg, 3rd flr RAS. I guess my title is Data Specialist for the Resource Allocation Specialist. Adjust and maintain schedules for the Consumer Care Center Representatives. Also do payroll entries, tracking of FML hours and attendance. Really wanna forget about the place on weekends. If I didn't have to own up to my child support obligations, I would've been gone retired by now. Welcome! No apologies necessary. You'll see examples here and there of where apologies are warranted though. You're not even close.
I'm not sure I completely agree with Jennie that girls catch more fish. That only happens when they join us. A remarkably high percentage of very successful fishing trips in our family had at least one lady on board. Didn't matter who it was, my wife, daughter, son's girlfriend - and they didn't even have to be fishing. She could be reading a book in the sunshine to get the fish biting. Maybe your dad knew something. A drift boat floated by me on the Kilchis today with a father and daughter. They had two keepers. Me-zero (except for a few cutthroat). Just one more example of having a lucky lady on board.

Yep, on the blacktop with a Black Firebird T/A fishin' with Uncle Fritz. :grin: I just came across some of those pics yesterday. Need to get them on a CD. Would be cause for some good laffs. Got rid of the blonde and now am an Auburn Redhead (stickin to the Irish roots literally) driving a Nissan Pulsar S/E with sportback. People just gawk at it. Yes, My savings for a boat went bye-bye. Coulda paid cash for a nice aluminum jetcraft. Now I have enough for a rowboat. I prefer not to say who (person)I work for. Yes, I am single, but very independent. My work hours would make a mess out of a relationship anyway. I like to work or I would get awfully bored. Just dont like working downtown PDX. Parking is expensive. I like working with the 200 some people and most of them are real nice. Some of them like to fish...Gotta get ready for work, be good and I'll be back about 10pm. Welcome aboard. I guess there are a few of us ifish folks that worked telecommunications. I started on the test board there in the Marble Palace in 1970. Then I moved over to the Capital building when we divested from AT&T and became uswest. When we re-organized in 1995 I went to Seattle. I finally called it quits in 1999. I know how you feel about taking that financial loss. At least you will get your pension. I rolled mine over to my 401K. Lost a really, really big chunk of change when Qwest cooked the books. No new boat, RV, beach house, exotic vacations...etc.

Hello Guys and Gals! Just got home frm Downtwn PDX. Yes, I am a chip off the Block! It scares the bejeebers out of my stepmother! The only thing is I am shorter than my Dad. Mom had passed away in 1981. Miss my Dad, too. He is somewhere in Myrtle Point  I wasn't told he moved til I tried calling him one day. Hee, hee! found him through the internet!!! I would like to confirm the statement about girls catching more fish. When I get into a shleprock phase on the water (no bites/no fish), I ask my wife to fish with me on the next outing. Sure enough, not only do we catch fish, she usually catches the first and the most! You gotta love lady luck!

Hey Carl. Have worked with you many, many times over the years. Hope all is well. I go as far back as Top Craft for GTE after the Navy and your PNB days no doubt Judy. First Operations Manager in Oregon for MCI. "The Good Ole Days"
