4 Prong Anchors
Has anyone seen these anchors or know where to get them. They are made locally and they have 4 prongs per side. Apparently they hold well in that gravelly and small round rock bottom, (like the south side of the channel below the Fishery). A guy was telling me that they were killer in the faster water, they look pretty cool too! Are there any at the show?

Re: 4 Prong Anchors
The anchor that I'm talking about could not be found at the Sportsmen Show, I looked and asked people. I did however find them that BC tackle in Oregon city, thanks Sneaky One.

After looking over these anchors I do have to say THEY ARE BUILT FIRST RATE. I'm sure happy I heard about them on my favorite fishing web site.

They are made by "Brads Anchors" ( different Brad) Bob's in Longview supposed to have them, they are pretty awesome looking.

Re: 4 Prong Anchors
The 26# is $55.00 and 36# just $65.00 great price in my book. Nice to have on board when the standard anchor won't hold.

Re: 4 Prong Anchors
What do ya think-- how heavy of an anchor does a guy need with a 20 foot sled?

Re: 4 Prong Anchors
I know there are heavier anchors, but my crew complained about the home made 37#+ anchor so I went down to a 27# (8' chain) and I am not holding as well in the fast current even worse with wind, and I have a shallow 21' 6 degree sled. If you got much more hull in the water the heavier one might be better especially in the faster current

Re: 4 Prong Anchors
I have a 20' Koffler and use a 40# river anchor. It holds very well under almost all conditions. I only use it when I really need it, otherwise I use a lighter anchor. I get some complaints from from the crew that it's a little heavy.
Regards,
Mark

Re: 4 Prong Anchors
I have a buddy who built one of these a few years ago. I believe he used steel stakes available from some home centers (36") and I am not sure where he got the steel tubing. He took it down to a local Mieneke shop and had them cut and weld it for $20. Works like champ. As a matter of fact it is stuck in the rocks below Willamette falls probably still doing the job.
You may even be able to go get the stakes and just weld them on to your current anchor.

Re: 4 Prong Anchors
The Falls have claimed many anchors, I was told that a person does not want to use a 4 or 6 prong anchor in that area. I have seen guys use a bunch of old tire chains with a brake away . Cheap way to go I have got old chains at garage sales for free or just a few bucks .

Re: 4 Prong Anchors
Brad's also makes Rod Holders too. I have used his anchors and rod holders for years.
Rod holder makes a great fish club too. painted mine camo. I use the small anchor for my 15 foot 1952 larson, it is the same one that held my 20 foot 1965 criscraft for years.

Re: 4 Prong Anchors
I was talking to a guy today that was on his way out fishing and I noticed he had a 6 prong anchor, not 6 on each side just three like we have been talking about. Well he had bought his at a store, he could not remember the name however the quality was no where near that of the Brad Anchor . The real bad part was he payed more for his  He still liked the way it works.

Re: 4 Prong Anchors
Yes, Brad stopped by and gave me some samples for the f4. They are very nicely done and look to be quality all the way. The rod holders look awsome...
Now Brad, how do I tell you my dog chewed them up.... into little pieces and I need another set....
For those needing an anchor, check these out, you won't be disappointed...
Giz...

Re: 4 Prong Anchors
I had a two tine anchor that hooked up in the Columbia current about half the time. And, there was always the chance it would come unhooked while I was fishing.
After reading this discussion, I hauled it down to my local welder and had him weld on tines so that it matches the photo displayed in this thread. Holy Crap, did it make a difference!
Now, I have total confidence that when I toss anchor, I'm going to stick. Now, I throw the anchor and start baiting hooks. That's the way its supposed to work!
Thanks for this thread and obviously, I'm a big supporter of the four tine anchor.
