Be interested in hearing what fly you reach for first when swinging on an Oregon coastal river. Personally, in higher/darker water I start with a bigger, darker eye weighted leech pattern. Lower, clear water, I reach for Rich Youngers Winter Run pattern....

Marabou tail, articulated body and rabbit fur, polar chenille palmer with hackle or no hackle. Various colors work well. I like cerise tail and purple body or just all black. This fly caught one and lost two this past weekend at the coast.
