Default Braid vs. mono for Sturgeon?

Hey guys, whats the consensus?I switched from mono to braid four years ago after breaking off a couple times on nice fish. Now I'm reading that mono may be good because of more stretch and less sensitivity,(so the fish doesn't get spooked).I don't know, I fished some mono recently after switching to braid and it felt sloppy and I felt I missed a couple fish because of the stretch.Another thing is , is mono more condusive to a certain depth? If I've got out 120 Ft. of line fishing deeper water this time of year, am I spooking fish on the bite with braid? How about some opinions on this? Thanks, Chris

I have been fishing with both and find that they are pretty comparable. The only difference is that you get more line with the braided lines and you can go to a lot heavier line. I have been using 30 pound test with sturgeon and in a boat I haven't ever broke off on an oversize. I use 80 pound test on the braided because the diameter of the line is still small. On smaller reels it is nice to use the braided because many people use their salmon gear and most of them get spooled on oversize using mono line.

CP inlet isle, you can target the size by where you fish. At Bonneville, I expect Peelers and use 80# tuff. Anywhere else in the lower river I use 30# mono because the rod I'm using is really light. Mono will abrade and part if the fish rolls on it. Even so it has very forgiving stretch and this saves the rod.

Tuffline in the gorge is all about cramming as much line on the reel as I can.

CP- 80# Tuff Line Plus all the time. Change rods depending on fish I am targeting.

This is for Pilar, what brand of mono do you use or are there several.
