great day at ochocco

Decided to take the wife out fishing yesterday. by the time we had all the gear loaded and off it was around noon. we took advantage of thenew two rod permit and had all four lines in the water at around one. we figured out what they were biting on and switched all the rods to that bait and then...

the first fish of the day. these fish are perfect eater size.

my wife had the first two of the day

we ended up with for nice rainbows.

the final count. we ended up landing 4, losing 1, and missing 2 other bites in a total of four hours. it was a great day until the wind picked up.

Nice looking trout perchmaster! Did you happen to notice if the boat launch is operational... did you see many boats out on the water?

Nice trout. I had heard Ochocco had a lot of stunted bullheads, nice to see it still grows nice trout. Thanks for the report.

ya the boat launch looked operational. there was probably around 6-10 boats out trolling down near the dam. this lake is located a couple miles east of prineville. in central oregon. at certain times you can catch those darn bullhead. usually summertime down by the dam. worm on bottom. thanks for the replies fellow fishers

Those are awesome fish!

I know I can google it, but are there campsites at Ochoco? I want to go fishing before the opener and I am tired of Pine Hollow. Thanks!

The campground is closed now, don't know when it opens up, but will look next time I am there. The boat launch is operational.

i might be heading out on the lake tommorow with a buddy, theres lots of room on the bank, it all depends on how bad the weather is. supposed to be windy

might just tough it out though. we will be in a lifted white 4 door 350. come on down and fish if ya see us. ty
