Default Price of 1981 License and Tags

Cleaned out some cupboards and drawers today and came across my 1981 fishng license and salmon tag. Must have forgot to turn it in. It showed that I caught no fish that year but I only paid $9 for the license and $2 for the salmon-steelhead tag. Let's see - $11 then and $52.75 today (with shellfish) - that's a little over 450% in the last 23 years. So 23 years from now we'll be paying -- -- no. Gotta live that long first.

Found 1993's also. FYI - 11 years ago we paid $14.75 for the license and 5.50 for the salmon steelhead tag. Also had to pay another $5.50 for sturgeon on a separate tag if you wanted to pursue those.

To be honest with you, if they charged 200 bucks a year, I would pay it. I have a problem.....

Heck I used to work in a shop that had a fishing hunting licence from 1910 you didnt need any tags at all but you couldnt hunt elk with it they were protected then the price was 1 us dollar.

anyone wanna bet that people whined about the price even back then?

Its painful, but I know that last year in two days we brought home enough fillets that at the market price for farmed atlantic , I would have paid that much anyway.

If they would really start using the fees for what they say they would, I would not only have a job, but we would possibly have more resources to pursue.

*Disclaimer...I would, at no time, buy farmed atlantic salmon...*

Yeah this is pretty standard,

The start you off for free,

so you get a taste.

Then they start to charge you a little. :depressed:

And once they got you hooks...They jack up the price!!!

I saw that movie...it was called New Jack City

I have a 1952 Salmon Steelhead punch card. The punch card was free. But it dose refer to a license number on the card. On the back it says mail in your card to the ODFW to help them track the number of salmon and steelhead caught.

I buy the sportspack, $130.00 a year total. Add a few other odd tags and my years total is is around $150.00. Thats about 41 cents a day. That's still pretty cheap in my book. I spend more than that on herring in a year. I think the ODFW does a pretty good job of giving me my $$'s worth every year.

Here, here ZaQ, I pay 159.00 a year for NFL Sunday Ticket. I'd gladly pay that to fish all year long. And my wife would probably pay it to get me out of the house so she wouldn't have to watch football.
