This trip I took my friend JJ (who still holds the mark for biggest mack on my boat) and his girlfriend Jamie. They were out on Crescent in December when a group of Ifishers were out there. JJ was having mechanical difficulties that day, his fish finder would not work and his kicker motor was having trouble as well. They never got a fish that day, so I was determined to get Jamie into her 1st mackinaw. Things started slowly today, but after about an hour Jamies rod went off and she got her 1st mack ever.

Does she look just a little bit happy?

.......but little did she know, she wasn't done yet.

It was a slow bite in the morning. We worked hard and tried lots of different spots and nothing happened till the afternoon. Finally we got a couple more about the same size 7-9 lbs or so and Then Jamie got a "real one."
She couldn't stop laughing as she was fighting this one.
Then she started saying how it wouldn't come up. I adjusted her drag a little and she started to make some headway. After a long fight she finally brought it up and JJ netted it. We weighed it and released it. 21 1/2 lbs!
I informed her that not only was she a mack fisherman now, but a trophy mack fisherman.
Next it was my turn, I got another big pig on and after getting him half way in I could feel a big head bob and then nothing. But the bite wasn't over. From noon till 3 we got a total of 5 to the boat. JJ finished the day with a couple nice fatties.
Final tally for the day was 9 on and 6 to the boat. All fish were released today. Another gorgeous day on Crescent Lake.
