Default Mercury 4-stroke starting instructions

I bought a new to me boat and I have not found the operating manuals yet and was hoping someone could provide some information / starting instructions for the following 2 motors:

2000 Mercury
75hp 4-stroke Mercury, electric start, power tilt controls on the helm throttle control. On the throttle control it says to push key for choke and on top it says to lift a lever for high idle (allows it to run all 4 cylinders when at idle).

What comes after priming?
1) Power Tilt prop down into the water
2) Prime squeeze bulb
3)
4)
5)

2005 Mercury
8hp 4-stroke Mercury manual start.
There's a button on the side of the engine that say's "throttle only"
=> What does this button do?

What comes after priming?
1) Manually Tilt prop down into the water
2) Prime squeeze bulb
3)
4)
5)

Do you need to run the fuel out of these outboards before storing them, long term or for a couple weeks? If so how do you run the 75 out of fuel?

Thanks in advance for the information.
Mark

On my 8hp Mercury the button on the side of the motor will enable you to put the motor into a faster idle without shifting it into gear. This is also the same principle as lifting the lever in your remote throttle control. After the motor is warm, you adjust the throttle/shifter back to neutral and the button will release itself, and you can then shift it into gear.
I might also suggest that you go to a marine supply store (Stevens) and have them order you a Operation Manual for these motors. There is alot of interesting tips and maintenance of these motor in the manual that you should be aware of. This would be cheap insurance that you are doing the right things for these motors, after the large investment you have already put into them.

Good advice. I'll have to stop by Steven's Marine and get a couple manuals ordered. Thank you Honker1

One other thing Mark...When you go to get the manual, take the motor serial number with you. It will help them identify the correct manual.

Have you tried finding the manuals on Mercury's website and downloading them?

Purchased both manuals and found out that 90% of the information is generic. Price for manual was worth it for me just for the peace of mind.

Thanks for your responses and help.
