Default Need some help with a fly tying based senior project

Im a senior at Forest Grove High School and we have to do a senior project based on our interest so i picked tying flies. I need a mentor who knows how to tie flies and i dont know anyone who ties so thats why im asking here. You would need to meet with me three times between now and the end of march i live out near gales creek just outside of forest grove and can drive and meet with you. I have been tying steelhead jigs for a year and half but my fly tying skills are not the best though i have been getting better. Please send me a PM or post here.

Some local shops or books might be able to give you some pointers. I haven't taught a class in years, but what are you trying to do?

I'd help you out but working on my Masters, working, raising a family, and fishing the rest of the time makes it tough when I'm completely on the other side of town. Don at River City Fly shop is one fantastic guy and I bet he would be able to help you, if not at least suggest someone. His shop is close t o you and he's always tying something when I go in there. Give him a call.

I would also suggestion contacting Don; he's an extremely helpful gentleman and even if he doesn't have time, one of his compadres is always sitting at the front table and would probably have time to help. Don will be at the fly tying event this weekend in Albany, so you may want to try him on Tuesday.

Flyman sounds like he has you covered but Don at River City is a great help as well. I'd use them both and ace the thing

Finally getting started Sean? Better hurry up, we only have 20(ish) days left.

More than enough time though.
