Default 6 hp vs 9.9 hp????

I have an older 18' smoker sled with a 200 merc outboard. I have always used a 9.9 kicker on it. I am upgrading to a newer one and looking at a nice 6 hp is this big enough to get me back to the ramp in a pinch? I am sure it would trol fine. anyone else use a 6 hp for a kicker?

Only downside is it's more than likely a single cyl (and 1/2 the weight). Probably run a little rougher, but as far as trolling it will be awesome, especially on that boat as it's very light. I had a 15hp on my 20ft sled, it would push me about 6.5mph, I bought a newer 9.9 and it's about the exact same speed. Hulls speed is hull speed and it only takes a few Hp to push you at your hull speed.

I would actually really like to get a 6HP with electric start / tilt if they made such a beast.

I wouldn't buy the 6 if it is a de-tuned 8.
I have an 8 Yami and a friend has a 6 Yami.....they have the same bore and stroke.....same block.
Might as well get as much power as the powerhead is designed to make.
