Re: Go to lure?
For streams, a small brown roostertail is meat in the pot. For lakes, a frog hotshot or flatfish.

Favorite all time 1/2 silver 1/2 brass Dick Nite trolled way back. 7 1/2 lb. Rainbow. Other favorites are 1/6th oz Blue or rainbow Thomas Bouyant, Needlefish,Cleos and most Rapalas. My tackle box never seems big enough to hold all my favorites.

Gold Thomas Fightin' Fish. The big ones at haystack a couple years ago liked gold/red either Fightin' Fish or little cleo. Approx 8 'bows between 7 and 10 pounds.

Re: Go to lure?
obviously its different if were talking trolling from a boat, or throwing iron from the bank. Since almost all of my fishing is from the bank, Id say 1/16 or 1/8 oz panther martins or same sizes of kast masters. Especially in rainbow or brown trout pattern. I like the inline spinners like panther martin over rooster tails and vibrax style lures because you can fish them much slower and therefore deeper because the blade will spin much more easily. i've done quick little tests with all of these lures, and you have to fish the vibrax and rooster tail almost 3 times as fast to make the blade spin vs the panther martin under exactly the same conditions.

Re: Go to lure?
The ageless staples are:
Rooster Tail- small yellow or medium green.
Flatfish- chrome or frog pattern
My style of fishing has changed with time (age) so the go-to varies, but the above mentioned are timeless.
Bait would be night crawler (hook, no weight), Pautzke red eggs then power bait.

Re: Go to lure?
Silver Protroll Trout Killer. Fished above the ball about three foot letting the ball bump the bottom every so often. Caught an 18, a 22 and a 24 inch brown one day doing that. Love catching the big browns cause they wag their heads like a chinook when they fight

Re: Go to lure?
Gold or Copper Kastmaster has by far produced the most fish for me, 2nd place would probably be a blue/silver Little Cleo
