Default What guides to use...

Well I finally feel as if I can build a decent rod. I think I have most of the quarks figured out. My next project is a Rainshadow IST1024F spinning rod. I have the blank and am ordering the components to put on it. It will be my great steelhead rod.

What guides should I go with? I would like some higher end ones that will never get cut from tuff line. I am really clueless...

Also, any suggestions for a reel seat that is just that cool? I dont need flashy, but something unique would be nice.

Thanks in advance, nate

Fuji Silicon Carbide or Alconites should do fine. They are moderately priced guides that I would consider for braid.

You should be fine with Alconites, I use Alconite on most of my builds and Ive yet to get any grooving with braid.

Use some AMTAK TITANS titanium frame single foot guides except a double foot for the stripper.

ALPS XTCXNCG...thats what I used on the last two IST1024's that I built. SS316stainless with TiCH zirconium ring. Terrific, lightweight yet strong. Get them where you got your blank.

I'm using Alps XBLXNLG LXN's on a steelhead rod I'm rebuilding, they are a little lighter in frame weight to keep the sensitivity up. 1 size 12, 2 size 10's, 2 size 8's, than drop down to single foot fly guides XPBFLG in sizes 7 and 6.

The XN's I use on pretty much everything else except my heavier salt water rods.

Lots of choices no doubt.

Go to Batson's homepage and register on his forum then you can get a PDF that has recommended guides, price and spacings for the blank. Utmost will give a 25% discount on blanks and 5% on the rest with minimal shipping. Good luck with your project.
