Default Elevation and power

My boat, a 21' Striper with a 302, is slugish at 4000' plus and I have trouble getting it on plane. I have 2 props that put me just above and just below the proper rpm and it still takes shifting weight forward and droping the outdrive fully down to get on plane so I don't think it's a prop issue.

I haven't had the money to take my boat to the coast so here's my question. Will my boat have more power at sea level or do I have to re power to get it to work like it should.

You will have more power at sea level. With my current prop, my boat runs great at or near sea level. At 5,000' I need to drop down in size and pitch to make up for the lower amount of o2 in the air. You might need to re-prop or watch your rpms in the ocean depends.

For every 1000' of elevation a naturally aspirated gas engine looses about 3% of its power.

At 4000'+ you're down 12% or more.
