Default Trout fishing Fourth of July weekend...

I have a couple extra days off around that weekend and have a couple Navy Friends based up in Washington. Anyone recomend a lake up in Washinton or within a three hour drive of Portland anywhere in Oregon. I will be taking my drift boat with a 6hp motor. My friends rarely get to camp because of the military so I want to get them into some trout, but I also need to be able to make a reservation and it is the Fourth of July weekend. Thanks for the help!

Diamond lake is a fun 4th of July outing but too far. It's well worth the 5 hour drive but camping spaces fill very early.

Diamond is a gorgeous place to camp and fish, but I would not go there in July if you were wanting to catch fish. The bug hatches happen and the trout stuff themselves. Its much harder to catch them this time of year.

Riffe has tent areas close to the water or carve out a spot up the lake or they have full hook ups.
