Default chinook in Shasta

Could someone explain how the chinook came to be in Shasta Lake? I was wondering if they were planted or natural.
Thanks for the help and information.

California Fish and game stock several lakes in California with Klamath River
strain Kings. Every November they stock Shasta , Whiskey Town, Lake Berreyessa, Lake Don Pedro along with a couple more I do not remember.

They stock Folsom lake with Kings I do not remember which river that strain of Kings comes from.

Folsom is down out of Sacramento area. It has Kings and Kokes in it but I think it has been quite some time since Kokes have been caught in it. The Shasta salmon can get double digits but in the last 2 years I have learned to fish for them, 5 lbs have been the biggest.

Folsom has been putting out double digit Kings.

Shasta on the other hand, the last two years 7-8 lbs, but we have had a bad Shad hatch in the same time frame. This year the Shad are looking real good so I am hoping for some double digit fish here this year.

Whiskey Town Lake on hwy 229E just out of Redding has double digit Kings as well. Pm coming at you with more info
