Default Motor Help....Question on Oil

Well first off, I'm an idiot. I have a 40hr Merc with oil injection. I accidentally put Decarb into my oil res. instead of the gas res. The Decarb is the stuff that keeps rings from sticking and helps with decarbonization. I put 1.5 oz. into my oil res. (its a 120 oz. res.). My question is, should I empty the oil res. and refill, or will it be alright since it's such a small amount. I just dont want to screw up the motor, but I dont have the tools to empty the res. Thanks in advance for any advice.

The problem isn't so much that you added about 1% of the decarb solution to the oil, the problem is it may not mix in uniformly with the entire amount of oil in the tank. You may have 0% in some places and 50% in others. If you can mix it thoroughly it should be fine, and then just keep refilling and mixing it each time you use it will dilute it even more.

my 2 cents... 10 minutes of effort vs. motor damage is easy math. I would not trust anyone's opinion unless it was the manufacturer of the engine and they said it was ok. I have seen the damage done by 2 stroke freeze. It is not pretty and is very expensive.

Suck it out and fill it up with good stuff.

50:1 is 2%, so this mix would be at 1.98% instead of 2%. At least that's what I came up with in my head. Probably can't get much closer with pre mix.
