and speaking of oars, just a thought
Just FYI-----I, like many of you, have been thrashing the water on the Oregon coast for more than twenty years. Reciently I tried balancing my oars, for best overall rowing. Here is what I found. If I balance them so that the netural point is about 1 foot below the spot I normally row at, the rowing is almost effortless, and the oars still drop nicely when anchored. I was very pleasantly supprised when this all came into place. I used some leg weights from GART's. It's the little things in life that can make your day. I'm not too proud that it took me 20 yrs to figure it out. So steal your wifes, daughters, girlfriends, mother-in-law exercise weights and give it a try.
