Talking Senior Project

Well if you have children in the Oregon School District then you know what i'm talking about when i say 'senior project'. I happen to have mine coming up and i was planning on building a rod, something i've been wanting to do for a while but lacked the general enthusiasm. My plan is to find someone here, or get some suggestions for a great rod building class, so i can find a mentor to guide me along(pun intended).

My idea was to first build a rod in the class, and then build my own wrapping jig and make another rod on my own. I have acquired three lamiglas blanks, they are as follows:
-G 1333-T 7'6" Line wt 10-25lb Lure wt 1/2-6oz Medium Bouncer (this rod has the cork + reel seat installed)
-G 1306-T 8'6" Line wt 8-12lb Lure wt 3/8-3/4oz (For this blank I only have the top 5.5')
-And some Lami that seems like it would make a great fly rod, med-fast action tip and seems like a 4 or 5wt

I was planning on using the G 1306-T for a nice little trout rod that i would build in the class, the fly rod would be my personal senior project, and I would build the G 1333-T later, in my free time. I also have many odd cork/foam grips plus a couple reel seats (one spin one a full metal fly seat) that may work. There is one grip that i believe to be a half wells that fits snug on the hopeful fly rod. Oh, both the fly blank and the G 1306-T have the tip tops installed already.

With all that said i will just let this thread stew in the building section and see if i get a bite, thanks for reading.

I'm not asking for a commitment from anyone, just a class suggestion.

I don't know of any classes in the Portland Metro area. If you looking for someone to give you a hand learning how to build a rod, I'd be glad to help out. Probably several others here would as well.
