Default Guide Reccomendation

I have never fished for Sturgeon but now have the desire to catch one. Since it's a couple hour trip down to the Columbia, would like to do it with a guide the first time to pick up some of the finer points of Sturgeon fishing brefore having a go of it on my own. Can anybody recommend a good Sturgeon guide for a first time Sturgeon fisher?

Thanks for the info.

Lee Freeman from Triple S Guide Service. Look him up on the web, search on +Triple +Guide from Yahoo. He was only $125/trip last time I checked.

Gators are easy to catch. You don't need a guide to show you how. Just ask one of us here on the board to take you out. This way you not only catch fish, it costs less.

But if you want a GOOD sturgeon guide, talk to Dave Johnson here on the DB. We see him out fishing sturgeon in the esturary and he always catches fish.

I' recommend going with a board member, however if you want I've had couple of outstanding trips with this guy and one not so good,(wind was so bad you could not see the bite)great boat great stuff but a little demanding, until you get the first fish then the guide pressure is off. I'd recomend mid june so you could hit the rack for shad... www.columbiariverfishing.com

I am a client of Lee Freeman of "Triple S Guide Service" I have fished with Lee for 4 years and now buy large packages of trips from him to use for taking my clients out fishing. He is a top-notch river guide and will get you into fish. His website is fishingnorthwest.net Good Luck-John

Frank Russum is far and away one of the best guides in the lower columbia. It is his specialty. He would rather fish for sturgeon than any other fish. This is the reason he carries the name "Sturgeon Frank"...you can call Fisherman's Marine Supply at 503-283-0044 and ask the guys behind the tackle counter.

You might want to consider fishing earlier than June if you want to take some fish home. Nothing is set in stone but sturgeon angling may be closed to retention as early as April. Just a thought.
