My 6 year old wants to catch a catfish. I live off cornelius pass near highway 30 (halfway to Scappoose). Are their any catfish ponds, sloughs, ??? nearby with bank access that might yield a decent fish.

Ive never fished any of the lakes/ponds on Sauvies Island, do they have any catfish?

Any and all advice RE catfishn' around here will be much appreciated.

Someday I plan to make a trip to the John Day with my boys to chase the bigger catfish. I would have gone sooner rather than later, unfortunately, uncle sam and 70% of Mult County requested that I sell my boat and give them the money

Oh well, such is life as a small business owner. At least I haven't had to lay anybody off and my kids love to fish!!!!!

i live in beaverton and fish sauvie island for catfish all the time. Most of thier waters have bullhead catfish, you will get lucky and get a channel catfish once in awhile. But the catfish come out mostly in the evening unless the water warms up, then you can catch them all day.I usually start going there in may when its a little warmer.I will be out at the john day river in june this year to, love those channels.

i live in st. helens. if you drive on out to the scappoose bay marina, right in warren there, you'll catch bullheads all day, at least once the water warms up. most are pretty dinky, but you'll get a few nicer ones mixed in. Plus, there are all three species, yellow, brown, and black bullheads. I have caught some nice brown bullheads, around 2lbs each, out at vernonia pond too. its tough to fish the bottom though, because it is SO weedy. I'd recommend using a bobber and keep it just off of bottom. also, as you come into scappoose, right at that shell station, take a right and head on down to the channel there. pretty much anywhere you hit the channel, you can catch a few cats.
