Default Confirmed Springer or Hype

I just dropped by Oregon Live and see somebody is saying a 24 pound spinger was caught at Meldrum Bar today?

Anybody see this and want to confirm it?

BOE, I would think it has to be mistaken identity. Probably a large steelhead caught by somebody who doesn't know which fish is which.

Havent heard but the first springer should be anytime now. The years past that had big runs they would always get a few in January. I can't wait

I drive over the Willamette at Oregon City several times a week, and I have only seen mud for the past month. It might take a while for that first springer to be caught.

Although it is second hand info, a fishing partner of mine in Kelso called and told me that a springer was caught at Prescott as well on Sunday 27 Jan.

Usaully the first week or the second in january is when the first springer is caught here on the willamette. you have to remember that the clackamas flows into the willamette just above meldrum bar and the fish will hold that side of the river. I'm suprised it took this long. But i'll try and find out more, since i'm just a couple mins away. you can try calling fishermens also. they usually know when the first one gets caught also. Mike

The mighty Willamette looks big and muddy!!! I would be surprised. I just hope that I get a chance to fish for springers!!! Born to fish forced to work!!!
