How's the Crooked been fishing?
Possibly going to go over on Sunday for a day trip, and was wondering if anyone had some wader boots in the water reports. Read the ODFW weekly report and water levels look good. I've also been hearing that the Redbands have been doing a lot better in the past year, but catching White fish is just fine with me.
thanks in advance,
CR

Re: How's the Crooked been fishing?
I fished it one day last week. Water was cold (38*) and fishing was fairly slow. We each got a few, and there was some surface action for a midge hatch early afternoon.

Thanks for the update, MikeT. Possibly headed out there Sunday with a friend. CrookedR, if you see a black (but dirty) 4Runner on the river, stop by and say hi.

Re: How's the Crooked been fishing?
Was there 2 weeks ago the water was low and clear caught a couple rather large whitefish and 1 redband about 14-15 inches on a size 20 black zebra midge. Was a really slow day for me.

Re: How's the Crooked been fishing?
Very slow. Talked to the fish checker yesterday, he said 11 rainbows for 41 anglers. We got 8 that night on griffiths gnats. Whitefish are hard work as well.
BTW. The place was busier than the Deschutes during the salmon fly hatch.

Slow and low, was anything else productive other than Griffiths? Headed over there maybe next weekend.

Not really. Standard scratch fishing with 16, 18 nymphs. Tried PMD's to no avail. The river is very clear for the Crooked.

I don't know that I would call it slow. I was on Sunday and must have been on some different water than Slow and Low. Had a decent day, although it was a little spotty. Stay on the bottom until 10am or so.

Just saying 41 anglers and 11 trout is slow for the Crooked.
