Default Hagg Lake Opener

Unless I'm reading the regs wrong, I think Hagg Lake opens in just over 2 weeks (First Saturday in March). Anybody planning on being up there for the Opener? Any clue on what the water levels look like up there?

I'm thinking of drowning some worms on opening weekend myself, if anybody wants to compare notes I'll have my VHF on.

Yep. Henry Hagg opens Saturday, March 6th.
Setting up a comfy lawn chair within sight of any of the popular boat ramps on opening day to watch folks launch for the first time this year (or, if you're lucky, the
first time ever) is great entertainment.

Taking the family on Sunday the 7th...... daughter has been begging me to go fishing and try out her new pole. We'll be trolling around trying to land some of those massive holdovers that are always hanging around.

I think we will be out there on Sunday (March 7th). Where do you guys prefer to drown your worms...we have gotten a couple both near the dam and on the other end of the lake?

Ok I'm going to throw this out there so it migh thelp someone. Hagg Lake is almost full and should be in good shape. Watch out for a few logs in teh lake. The big one is Ramp C might at this time has no docks and I'm pretty sure they won't be in by opening day. They are putting in new docks on the lake and it seems to be going slower than planned.

Favorite Hagg Lake setup early in the year is a couple of split shot followed by a rainbow trout needlefish. No flashers.

I trroll along the shoreline towards the dam; tightening my trolling pattern as I find biters.

Thanks for the info about the docks, Fishon2reels. I just found this on the Oregon.gov website for dock construction for 2010:

Washington County Parks is in the process of installing new boarding floats and cable winch system at Henry Hagg Lake at both the “A” ramp and “C” ramp. Currently the existing boarding floats are connected to a cable winch system that is anchored in the lake and allows the county to adjust the location of the floats based on lake levels in the reservoir. The floats at both ramps are in poor condition and a source of frequent repair and maintenance for County staff. “A” ramp will have a new winch system and boarding floats. The “C” ramp will have new boarding floats. The project is expected to be completed by early fall. For more information about this facility or others operated by Washington County Parks contact 503-846-8715.
