Default My Niece Caught Her First Fish Today!

I took my 8 year old niece fishing for her first time at a local lake. I rigged a slip sinker plunking rig with two Berkley Gulp! eggs on a barbless size 8 single egg hook. I told her to wait for the rod tip to jiggle, but there was no jiggle on the bite. The semi-tight line just went slack. I told her to reel up and set the hook and she did perfectly! A nice 12 inch rainbow. The only bite we'd get all day. I think she's hooked!

Gotta love the first fish, and fishing puns.

She'll be hooked for life.

Absolutely awesome! Would love to see a pic, those smiles are always the best. Congrats to her and thanks for introducing another person to one of the things we are so passionate about!

Thumbs up Re: My Niece Caught Her First Fish Today!

Way to go - get her out every chance you can. I love taking my 9-year old daughter out and she loves to go.
