Default Kilchis River, Sunday, January 27th!

Kilchis River in the Snow

This takes a while to download, but I just couldn't stand to compress it. It's just to pretty whole!

We have about 4 inches of snow, and it's still snowing. The river is a beautiful sea green, and soon I will be out to test it!
Ever drifted in the snow? I'm going to!

Jenny, don't stand or sit to close to the heater. There are those among us that feels it is necessary to be smoking to be warm, if you get my meaning.... I've had several trips to the coast to fish when it was snowing and they were all worth every minute of it. You have an advantage on us flatlanders, you're already there and don't have to brave the snow and ice on the hiways. Good luck and post the results.
Beautiful picture.

They have a post over at pp about how much snow?
I'd like to know here too!
I posted this over there, and Diana, I think it was, gave me the terrible visual of a trailer and rig sliding into the river on an icy put in.
YIKES!
I think I'll just pull the driftboat out to the river like a sled!

Do you know that felt soles and snow don't go together?
I was walking along, and feeling taller every step.
Yip! At the end, with four inches of "deck snow" on my feet, I was exactly 6"3!!!
Dangerous to walk on the rocks like that. I twisted my ankle. Never again will I wear felt soles in the snow!

After seeing the photo from your house I was going to tease you about not seeing a photo of you in your new waders, playing in the snow. Then I get down to the end of the replies and "badaboom"! Many years ago, my wife and I were fishing in West Yellowstone the morning after their first big blizzard of the season. After two hours of fishing, we were a good six inches taller. Fortunately, no twisted ankles. When even the local guides headed for the closest hot stove and coffee, we knew the day was hopeless and headed in. It took a long time to get the caked snow off of the felt soles.

I'm with Mark. Absolutely nothing is more tranquil than drifting down a river while it is snowing out. I have experienced this quite a few times and those are absolutely some of my best fishing memories.
