Default Sturgeon trip yesterday (pics)

Well, we originally wanted to go out of Cathedral, but driving down that way, figured with all the wind, the best bet was to go down out of Scapoose Bay, and into the MC. Turned out to be a decent day, real easy to find productive spots out of the wind.

Never could get a keeper to bite. Had some really constant action all day. WillametteRiverOutlaw managed to bring this monster to the boat:

And then another one, a little bigger:

We had John with us, who is shipping back out for another deployment on Monday, maybe Afghanistan, maybe Iraq, he doesn't know yet. He managed to have the most interesting catch of the day:

Almost kept him for something to eat, but decided it wasn't the effort.

We had an oversize roll in the anchor line, and 5-6 keeper size fish rolling around us pretty consistently. Ryan kept mumbling something about "topwater smelt" . Of course, he went without a bite for about 2 hours, while John and I had all the action.

We saw the Kentucky Hog Hunter out on a pre-tournament scout, he's pretty tough to miss!! Good talking to ya.

Great day, with great people. Thanks Ryan and John for tagging along!!

BT...I left the herring at home...but kicked myself. It wasn't perfect, but I would've felt perfectly fine pulling a herring with a fishflash. Probably 18-20 inches of vis where we were at.

There were a few trollers scattered about in the morning when we headed up the MC, but nearly all were gone when we headed back down at 2pm.

To be fair in that 2 hour stretch, my rod was just a little out of the slot . Oh well, it was a great time.. John wouldn't shut up the rest of the day about out fishing me.. It'll give him something to think about while he is staying in the land with no water. Fun day though all in all, You for got to post pictures of your trophy size ********* .. Yes I will get you back for the smelt in the old rain bibs. (I know John didn't come up with that idea on his own )
Kyle thanks again for the great time and giving John a memory he soon won't forget. We'll have to do it again for sure .

Yeah, Ryan just couldn't figure out what that "garlic smelt" smell was that followed him around for a while.

Honest, I was going to tell you... right before you sat down on my leather pickup seat!

It sounds like 'a good day was had by all!'

WRO found the nursery, at first, eh?

Thanks for the tale, nothing like good times!

Ryan didn't cracker any? He must have not been feeling like his normal self then. Glad to see you guys got into some. I have never got a keeper, only 1 or 2 shakers in the few times I've tried. Need to get the DB into the MC and try after a biggin'.
Every time Ryan fishes with you I get to hear about how sweet that Boice of yours is.
Nice post Kyle
