Default down riggers and springers

DO you use them? I have two cannons on my boat and wonder if it works near sellwood bridge or is it to snaggey?

I dont know about up at sellwood, But fishinfg down in the channel, It is very important to keep your bait right off the bottom. I use lead droppers, and bounce the bottom, I would think the downriggers would be a hassle to try and keep your bait in the strike zone. Good Luck

I see a few guys using them, but frankly why bother. Whether you are fishing the Columbia or the Willamette you never have to have very much line out anyway. Even in the harbor you don't need much more than 20' line out with 8-10 oz to catch fish. Seems to me they would be more trouble than they are worth, because you still have to crank that cannonball up after you hookup. My own preference is to have the rigs a little way out from the boat anyway.
