Default I know where I\'ll be on April 13th

I just got this from Jerry Dove.
Sad there is a conflict...
Hope you guys have a wonderful time, but....

This just in from Jerry Dove, at Tillamook Anglers:

Jennie Sorry to say fin clipping is on April 13 this year. Hope it dosn't
cause problems for to many. Also if you can help get the word out it will
help. We did not get into the sport show this year. that has always been
our way of letting people know about that date, as well as handicap fishing
day at the hatchery. We are working with salem to save Trask river
hatchery. County Commissioners, Tilla. Anglers and others are sending
letters to Leg. Please encourge others to do the same. If we lose Trask,
we lose our egg supply at whiskey Creek, there goes Tillamook Sp. Chinook,
and Fall Chinook fishing. That would mean millions of dollars lost to the
local economy. thanks for your help. Jerry
----

I have also offered to hand out brochures and talk to the people about the problems that exist with this hatchery while at the Sportsmen show.
Please, people, This is serious business.
Want to still fish in Tillamook?
I do.
Jen

Jennie, tell Jerry that Bev and I will be there. I've been wanting to do this for the last two years, this is the first time I can help...Its a chance for me to give back to the hatchery programs and the rivers that I fish. Then Im going to have my hair done after that (jk) ....its going to a busy day!

Jen-I saw Jim Wood in Newport last Sunday and told him i would be there and try to bring some people from this area to help with the fin clipping. Also, who should I address the letter to on the trask hatchery problem? You listed a page of people, but I want the main person.

I’ll be there too. Hangin’ with the ladies so it seems.

It’s always a good time. Maybe we need to secure a section so all of use can clip together.

See you there!!

The wife and I will just have to miss Flotilla 4. I think this is far more important. We have never been involved in anything like this and would like an opportunity to give back to something that has given us so much.

Just thought I'd bring this back to the top.
For those of you who aren't going to F4, this is a great event. An event the whole family can take part in and feel really good about.
Great, also, for those of you going to F4, that want to beg out, because you can't catch a fish anyway!

Please, this is the kind of thing that you can do to show your support! Talk all you want, that's great, but if the media shows up and sees zillions of active people working on these projects, it's going to say volumes without words.
It's fun, it's educational, it's hands on!
There will be coffee and doughnuts in the morning, about 8:30, and then lunch, sponsored by local merchants.
What more could you ask for? I know that you will drive home feeling good about yourself!
Help us help save our rivers, become involved, join Tillamook Anglers and clip a fin or two!
Jen

Great!!!
I would say 8:30. Official start time is 9:00 I believe, but hey, the donuts will be there at 8:30, and I, for one, don't want to miss out on donuts.
I am really excited that you are coming!

Jennie,
You can count Stacey and I in for the fin clipping.
From what I have seen I am assuming we need to be there at 8 a.m.

See you there.

I'll be there. Can't resist coffe and donuts.
Springers can wait, besides look at all the gas we'll save by not being on the river.

So what is the dress code for the event?
Formal - full rain suit and boots
Semi formal - neoprenes with rain jacket
Informal - rain pants and coat
Casual - jeans, sneakers and tshirt

I am so confused!!!

My STS mag had no articles referring to how one should dress for a fin-clipping ball.

Please help the uninitiated.

I don't really know. Waterdog? You know!
I'm going to wear jeans and a sweat shirt, with easily rollable uppable sleeves.
Then, I'm going to bring my rain pants, and rubber boots, and rain coat too!
(To keep the fish slime off?
I don't know what to wear, so I'm bringing everything I can think of!
(no high heels though)

I would dress VERY warm. The weather forecast doesnt look very good. We will be under cover however but the wind will blow though the area where we will be.

Waterproof boots are a must. I have bib rain pants so I wont need the coat. There should be no slime at all. If there is something is wrong, it's NOT fillet and release.

I think Jerry was going to get latex gloves and that may help keep your hands semi warm. I dont like them cuz I dont have the feel.

There is an area that is heated and you'll be able to warm up inside. Staying dry is the key. Dont let the weather scare you away. You wont get rained on and we need your help. With enough help we're usually done by 2 or 2:30.

Wear your ifish hats and waterproof boots and rain pants!!!!

See ya there!

Rich

Jen/Waterdog or anybody,
My daughter and I want to volunteer for the fin clipping tomorrow but I don't know how to get to the hatchery. Could someone please give me directions from Tillamook to the hatchery. Also, approximately how long of a drive (time wise) would you say it would be from Canby to the hatchery. Sorry for the late notice but I just found out I would be available tomorrow and have always wanted to do this, so............I'll see you'all there in the morning.

Thanks,
JK

From Canby, I would say a little over 2 hours.
Jerry gave the directions somewhere on here.
I'll find them and get back here.

From Tillimook head to Netarts then head to Cape lookout. The hatchery is on the right. You can't miss it.

If you have a state map, Cape Lookout State Park is clearly shown just south of Netarts bay.
