Default Let the trash talk begin...F4 "The Really Big One" will be Saturday April 13th.

OK, we listened, we checked and now we are announcing the date of the next floattilla. The outgoing tide ends about 2:30 or so. (I am trusting Jack on this). The event will be held in the Columbia River near the mouth of the Lewis River and the town of St. Helens.

At about 3pm, we will meet at Sand Island for an informal gathering to share stories and to meet each other and weigh in your catch.

You will need to bring your own food, plates, drinks and what ever to the festivities.

Those with last names ending in the letters A through M bring a salad to share...those from N to Z bring a dessert.

We will have a weigh in for the heavest Spring Chinook for bragging rights. ALL FISH MUST BE WEIGHTED IN BY 3:30 PM TO COUNT...NO EXCEPTIONS

We will weigh the fish from Wa and Or fishers to see who has the most overall weight. This will put an end as to who has the better fishers.

If you have a bbq that is portable, let me know as we will be needing a few for people to cook on.

If you have any prizes or know of anyone who has any door prizes they would like us to share with those in attendance let me know.

If you have any problems or want to make any complaints...direct those to Keith and Jack...
just kidding because this is a fun event...and we will all keep it that way.

When we get closer to the date, I will post a sign up sheet so we can see who is in whos boat. Also, if conditions should change, such as water conditions, color, nets, or any unforseen circumstance we reserve the right to change the date and location (Jack's tub where he will have 10 springers swmimming).

I would like to thank the PP and Ifish administrators for their support by allowing us to announce this event on their bb's. If they would like to contribute any door prizes or volunteer their services, that would be appreciated as well as any one of you out there that can enhance this experience for all...

Giz...

Thumper
That is a correct time or close enough for the low. Here is a site for St Helens tides http://www.westfly.com/or/or_tides/sthelens4.html. It sounds like it's going to be a great time, looking forward to fishing and meeting everyone.

Sorry Giz, for that lackluster start. I'll see what I can do about that.

Here folks, for your viewing pleasure, is my predicition of what will happen w/ BOE this year, in Floatilla IV.

You see, once upon a time, there was a cracker named Bait O Eggs. Course everyone called him Eggo for short (and he was short!). Eggo entered a fishing tournament for springers in the Columbia, hoping with all the hopes he had, that this year his luck would change, and he would actually catch a springer. BOE had seen pictures of springers before, and been told how to fish for them, so he was reasonably sure that he could do it too. Well once BOE got out there in his john boat, he started to get a little confused. All around him people were catching fish left and right, but he couldn't buy a bite. He fished and fished all day, using preperation-H wrapped kwikfish and narry a nibble. When he got back into the dock, people all around were holding up their catches and swapping stories. Eggo could only hang his head in shame. As he was slinking back to his car, he looked up, and there was the biggest springer he had ever seen in his entire life. It was easily 40 lbs, mint bright and everything he had ever dreamed a fish could be. It had been caught by a mysterious man, know only as El Giz Eggo went back home, content to watch and never again think of the dreaded springer.

My predicition: Springers - 5, Roy - 0

(editor's note: I guess this officially proves that I have WAY too much free time. Good enough for you Walt? He put me up to it Roy. Blame him. I already know: I deserve whatever I get.)

Why not make it April 1st. That way all the fools from Washington would show up. You boys play a mean game but as I remember it ducks fly and beavers swim. Dawgs just run away with their tails tucked tween their legs.

Boy this is going to be a long couple of months of trash talk on the boards. Guess it will be put up or shut up boys. Team Oregon will be ready. And any team that Catch And Eat is on or forms will put the hurt on the challengers. By the way what is a Springer anyway?

Bring it on!!!!!!

Catch and Eat I hear that you have a hard time keeping hooked up? You can come with me and I will show you how its done.

Try a shorter leader it's a hook up every time.

Uh... huh... em.. Did you say something Birdboy

Just how do you plan on catching a fish when you dont have a boat? Coot told me about your plan to tie a 10 foot piece of leader around your neck and swim around seeing if you can get a bite. Let me tell you how it is going to happen. You are gonna show up and realize your bait is smaller than the hook, and once you figure out how to get it on a hook, you will swim around until a springer grabs the hook and then you will look like this So if you want to have a Why dont you get a boat and show up, because not even I want to watch a springer pull your head around sand island, doing its victory laps while the rest of us with our springers sit on the beach and drink a beer.

I have been setting up Waterdog as a cracker now for weeks, since I knew it was about to be springer season again. All that seems to have gone out the window :depressed:

And Giz if you are gonna "eggo" him on, You realize the boat just might make a hard turn putting your line in the prop during F4. Once you are spooled by the prop, I guess you can join Waterdog on the Rally squad.

Hey FishinMission, I hope your boat at least gets a fish this time. F3.5 was a pretty sad showing for the almighty fishers you claim to be. Par for you and ******, but poor for a fishing event.

Yeah Roy, you "steeplander". We loved the way every boat blistered em' on that one. From what I hear, you should just drop a permanent anchor buoy in the middle of the river, hook your boat to it everyday and just sell hotdogs and lemonade for about an hour each trip to all the rest of the Springer fishermen!! You might make enough money to buy one. Mu ha ha.

P.S. I am sure Mission will have somethin' nice to say to ya too. LOL.

YOU'RE IN 'OUR' HOUSE,NOW

Washington wannabes, Portland crackers and Hillsboro flatlanders and the rest of the 'hopeful'- welcome to the land of mildew, moss, swampland, sulfur millsmoke and rootsoaked hardwoods. A place where King Salmon don't understand your $6 plugs or sissy scent bottles. They just want 'meat'.....and that's exactly what our Columbia County crew feeds 'em.

Most of us can't even spell 'spectra', let alone foro-caro...floricarbo....whatever the hell, that fancy leader is called. But we can put fish-in- da-boat.

So, bring it on, with your fancy, high powered Duck-Ridge and Wool-Worth jet boats...our crew will be rowin'. That's right...rowin' and catchin'.

So you can head for the woodshed now or wait til' the 13th, but either way...your gonna get a spankin'.

 How's that ...trashy,enough???

I'm not long on words so I'm gonna make it short.....just have the first place prize for most poundage weighed in (that would be fish, not fat boys from orygone either)  waitin' for the crew I'm fishin' with. We'll take the hardware home with us!!!! As for F5 at the Wind we'll be at that one too!!!! I think F6 should be a saltwater affair......Pt. Defiance in August or Sekiu in September!!!

You got the touch Hogtide...I like it...new leader in the trash talk dept.

Roy, you are a little weak...need more than someone swimming with a 10' leader....I can't give you many points on that one. Go to Hogtide and learn...

Keep it flowing...never can tell if there is a secret prize for the best trash talker...

I see the ladies are dropping out...taking an easy trip to the hatchery.

What's the matter ladies...afraid to play in the big water...

And Jeffhead...better just stay up where you can use that stuff you call a rod and reel. If I can get by the salvation army, I will see if I can get you a pair of reels that have the releases so you can freespool... (the reels he has can only release line if you back the star drag off far enough...and the sensativitiy of the rods look like something that would go on top of a mountain for antennas to withstand ice and high wind...

Good one Giz!!
Ya know those "tomato sticks" didn't work so well back bouncin' at the dam.......but then just runnin' the boat was an adventure that day!!!!  Ya know though they sure stuck em' down lower in the river. Don't worry though, I'll be over bright and early on the 13th with the wheelchair so you can make it to the ramp to meet up with who your fishin' with?!?!!? You want me to send the masseuse over the night before to make sure the back will be OK enough to get out o' bed??? Oh and by the way, make sure you keep both hands free this time...as the presedent of the double "D" club I wouldn't want to have to see someone else have to land your "fish" for ya!!!! As for stayin' up my way, that's why I think we need a saltchuck floatilla....so us Puget Sounders can give you some serious lessons!!!
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Hogtide - You write a nice little ditty

But that signature of yours is all we are gonna be hearing from you come the 13th   And in another few months it will roll off your lips even easier. Does crow go down as easy as the words come up?

Hey Flatlander, ya I'm talking to you ******. This is to far downstream for you to have any kind of home field advantage. Just bring that blue wash tub of yours and if you want to do something productive, you could be the camera boat for Hottamale. We know you will be eating store bought meat at Sand island either way. That is if you got the seeds to show this time. You do know how to find Sand island dont you? Find that big rock you anchor next to, throw your hat in the water and follow it until you smell one of my springers on the BBQ. Last time you skipped out with the big D, That is all I expected to meet anyway.

Well you guys won’t catch near as many as I will on the 13th. In fact I bet I catch more springer’s on that one day than all of you combined for the entire springer run!!!  I will be catching a couple thousand springer’s on that day alone  and I think Jen will be catching a couple thousand too.

How’s that for some cracker smack?

Of course all a guy has to do is catch one and you’ve already done a 100% better than Eggo boy.

It's looking better boys...that what I call some good smack. When are the girls going to get into the ring...

Os...I know JH is one of ours, but we can't have no one from WA showing up with geek rods and reels. ..next he will be using a spinning reel with the reel on top reeling backwards...Need to have him get a rod and reel that looks like a real WA setup and works.

JH...when did I get promoted. I thought I was the vp and your dad was the pres. of the double d club...(for those who don't know what the double d club is ask jeff...actually its when you are caught with your pants down and the rod goes off...in the case referenced there was a double header going on...both dad and I where caught at the same time when dads rod goes off..well actually both his rods  ....let the choas begin...

And yes, please do arrange for the wheelchair. I will need it to help me pack all the fish we catch back to my van...and who do you have in mind for the massage...sounds inviting....

NN...you can sleep in that day...no need to get up and midnight to anchor up all night...

BOE...getting a little better....you keep watching the adults and maybe you will learn something...

Your guys are really tough on poor Roy. I did see Roy catch "a" shad last year near Oregon City.

Roy can catch something... I have even heard that he can catch crabs.

Well...All I got to say is the Oregon boys will be glad to have the "Mission" boat on their team.

Will there be a prize for the boat with the most fish??

I try not to put the cart before the horse, but I KNOW the "Mission" boat will kick some weenies.

I wanted to keep the odds even so the Washington boys had a chance. I put three of them wassies in my boat and figured with only me from South of the big water Oregon would still open up some whup a$$.

The 4 man team of Team SMS will consist of 2 fishers and 2 pieces of dead woods in the front of the boat.

Filling the front starboard seat at 288 pounds sporting a pink tutu and a fish tag with no punches will be Geezer man. We all have a special place for him in our heart. You know the type, old, bald, and crippled. Every time I see him, I think of my grandpa when I last saw him at 88 years old. In another 10 or 15 years gramps would have looked just like Geezer man if he had lived that long. (RIP grampa) Geezer man is hoping his patience will be an advantage for him. The rest of us, just hope he can stay awake till 3pm so he can watch the weigh in's since he is probably one of the judges. I hope he brings his glasses so he can see the numbers.

Filling the front port seat at 136 pounds dripping wet, standing 5 ft 2 inches tall sporting the 10 foot noodle rod on a spinning reel and a miniature rubber ducky boat on his key chain will be Osprey. He has never seen the big water and would better serve as an anchor since he wont have an idea on how to troll a Silent Approach jig under his fancy float. Osprey is basically the cannon fodder amongst us.

Filling the port back seat is Scotty Aldrich. The true master amongst us. I have nothing to say smack wise about him. Though I always wanted to take a guide one on one. I figure since I have fished this water and it is my boat we should be a good match. Between him and myself we may cancel each others 2 fish out giving the advantage to neither Oregon or Washington.

Keep trying bird boy

Listen to HOGTIDE---Us locals will be a rowing, except our paddles ain't gonna be hitting the water, they're gonna be whoopin' some a$$

Everyone can personally thank me for the shortage of herring in the metro area. I'm stocking up for the home team...That's right, MEAT!

Put away all of you're little sissy K13's too. We're weighing these fish in, and those little 12 and fifteen pounders ain't even gonna be able to get they're mouths around my Purple label herring or k-16's. If your having trouble getting fish in the boat let me know and I'll let you have some of the little 12# cookie cutters I'll be culling out!

Bring it On,

Anybody notice what is missing? I looked at this thread, and something was missing, it wasnt obvious right off, but it finally came to me.

Before F3.5 the originator of the original smack talk thread, none other than SNAPSHOT talked a little smack.

Anybody heard a peep out of him? Or is he still choking down feathers from the last couple of floatillas.

He came out with the big boys in F3 and F3.5 and he hasn't touched a fish yet, nor has anybody in his team touched a fish.

Maybe if Washington is looking for a ringer to add there team to help them he might just fit right in as a team captain. He is as good as they have amongst themselves.

Eggo: <blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><hr> Anybody notice what is missing? I looked at this thread, and something was missing, it wasnt obvious right off, but it finally came to me.<hr></blockquote>

Close, but no cigar on Snapshot Roy. I think the thing that is missing, the thing that is lacking in this thread, the thing that all of us are dying to see, is this: A picture of you w/ a salmon in your hands.

Now before you get any ideas, let me first say that those pics I've seen of you helping out on the salmon carcass plants don't count. Those were dead fish you were planting right? I mean, it did seem kind of funny you were planting them in T Bay itself, but then again consider the source. I mean, sure I've seen plenty of dead spawners floating downriver, but I never picked them up and took 'em home. I like my fish to come in one piece usually. I guess if you're that desperate. Geeez.

and ****** - from what I hear, sounds like it's mostly NO Nook. I sure hope FM can make up for ya! Might have to try something other than spinners this time Mark. Sorry.

And Stlhdr1, sorry, but I make it a point not to take lessons from anyone who has a bug collection in his swivel box.

C&E: I thought you were only allowed one fish per year! You've already surpassed that, so I think you're gonna be hurting for the next decade or so. You're not w/ a guide this time my man. Good luck. You're really gonna need it!

I hear RT is gonna be there. Are we gonna see preperation H flavored kwikfish, or 3/0 jigs? I know they call what you're sitting on a doughnut, but for pete's sake, don't eat it!

I feel more than confident that this floatilla, will be MY Floatilla. Oh, yeah and having FishHunter on my team probably doesn't hurt either. This is the ultimate. A local w/ loads of herring, and a proven fish-catching good luck charm. Just so you all know, this is what we're after:

Thought you might want a refresher, as the only way any of you are going to see any is as we pull them out of OUR boat.

Anyone I missed?

I also will have an extra woman on board, so I have double the amount of chances than all you guys to limiting out my boat. PLUS, we will have six giant BANANA's on board. One for each fish we will be catching.
