Default Crab Report

I just finished a four day Newport to Nehalem coast trip in search of everybody's favorite crustacean, Barnacle Bill. Unfortunately, I got to the coast a day late. The heavy rains on Saturday washed too much mud into the bays, so previously outstanding crabbing was poor to say the least. Two days at Yaquina: 2 keepers. One day at Geribaldi: 8 keepers. One day at Nahalem, skunk.

I now understand that the place to be is Netarts where supposedly monster Dungeones are thick; probably because of the low water flow into this harbor. Naturally I drove right past without stopping...arrrrr.

You should have stopped at Netarts, my wife and I and a couple of friends crabbed Monday at Netarts. We got 14 crab that were very large and tasty before it got real nasty. It rained, hailed, sunshined, it was great. Netarts is very good this time of year. Stop there next time the bay will reward you.
