Default Ceramic guides fraying line??

I have a cheap sturgeon rod that I use for plunking for springers and I am having problems with the line fraying and breaking. I inspected it tonight and found there to be a crevice in the top guide. It is steel with a ceramic insert, the ceramic is what is nothced. Is there any way to fix this without having to replace the guide? I have already tried a really fine sandpaper and that didn't seem to do any good, just wondering if any of you have any ideas? Thanks

tip tops are cheap. heat up the tip top with a lighter and pull the old one off get some epoxie glue and put the new one on you can fix it for less than $5 and in less than 5 minuts

Spooners got it right.
Its not worth losing a fish over when the tips are cheap and they are very easy to fix.

Fall Chinook fishing last fall on the Nestucca Very slow day so I decided to put fresh line on my real. I went down to the river and made a few casts just to "stretch" my line and make sure everything was working ok when my line just stoped and started going sideways I set the hook and it was fish on! after about 5 mins of fight I noticed a wad of green stuff on the tip of my rod then I figured out what it was! It was my line! Fraying badly! So i took it very easy and ended up netting the fish a nice 38# buck! 25# big game turned into about 8# test in no time flat! after that I went down to Ron <Sporting goods store in Hebo> and had him put a new tip on for me cost 5 bucks and took about 5 mins. I was back to fishing in no time. I ended up hooking and handing off two other fish that day one to my Aunt and one to my Dad 28# and 42#!! turned out to be a very nice day for us. Now I check my guides regularly and replace them when needed.

I think the reason for this is not so much the ceramic material. It's caused from constantly reeling in your line to the swivel which in turn is causing the nicks and then the fraying line. Hard to stop reeling when you have a winner on the other end. I have a couple of rods with the ceramic and i just smooth them out with fine sandpaper. Just my cent and half worth.
