Default crescent lake macs a little help please

Hi all. I am new to this board. I have looked for hour hours trying to find any how to info on lake trout in Crescent. I just love that lake! I am excited for spring to get back out and get to kokanee fishing again. In the mean time I would like to try to catch a big ol' lake trout.

This is prolly a shot in the dark, but I know there is room for 1 more boat out there. Will anyone share info on how to be successful fishing for these monsters. Useful info would be depth of water, one end of the lake vs. the other, type of lure or jigs, troll speed. Also interested in the perils of getting my boat in and out this time of year.
Any tips would be appreciated, as it is a long drive to learn the hard way. I would sure like to give it a try before the kokes start off. Maybe PM me?

FWIW I fish from a 21 foot Phantom Sport jon. 200hp opti, with a 8 hp merc 2cycle kicker. I am set up with 2 scotty (1085 I think?) downriggers.

Thanks Todd

Welcome to the board! Do some searches in this forum and you'll find a LOT of info. Sounds like you are setup to be successful. I use big lures that look like kokanee or trout and run them deep. I've got fish on 80' to 120' but they are where they are and where you find them. Treat these big fish like the treasures that they are. Call the lodge and ask about the conditions at the ramp. There was about 1 foot of snow there when I launched on Jan. 3rd. and needed to chain up to get in and out. Jimmy can give a better idea what it's like now. My 19' was fine, I know others have had concerns about bigger boats being able to get and out at the lodge's ramp. Good luck!!

Tradition holds that you introduce yourself with a fish story. Let's have it..

Well, I have caught literally hundreds if not thousands of fish. I have been pretty blessed with an understanding wife, great gear, and family that brought me up doin what I like to do so much now. Many of them are gone now, and the few that are left simply just cant do it anymore.

My best fishing memory is from the 3rd grade when my grandparents offered each of us grandkids a trip anywhere we wanted to go. I chose to go fishing in Alaska. We took off and stayed in Ketchikan for about 2 months. While there we took a side trip to Prince of Whales Island. I hooked some monster Dollies, basically by sight, found the one I wanted and fished him out. Caught my first silver there too. The fish were so plentiful and hungry I was able to hook fish without getting my bait wet. They would jump out of the water and grab it. NO lie!!! Salmon were jumping a small falls and if you stood there long enough you could pick them up off the bank. Sometimes they missed and flopped out of the shoot and floundered back in. Needless to say I was hooked!

Now My specialties are Crescent Kokes and jetti groundfish, got 2 1/2 limits this week while off work.

Thanks for the tips. Sounds simple enough. The sportjon is very light boat. If you look at the pic in my bio you can see where I stranded myself in tidewater. Was able to push it back into the water and went away!

Welcome to the trout board. Cool looking boat you have. Here is what the boat ramp look today. Very easy launch and take out this weekend.

E chip in trout or firetiger color 18 inches behind a gold and silver flasher, or 2 sets of ford fenders. As previously stated go deep.

No,

This a shallow ramp off the beach at the resort.
