Mofish,
I'd be very interested and more than willing to help out. Let me know a day and time and I'll do my best to be there. Thanks for getting something like this going.

Re: Creek Cleanup needed Bad???
I fished there today and was truly horrified by the garbage. That beautiful little creek with it's stately old growth firs and cedars ... and an unbelievable layer of beer cans, cigarette butts, styrofoam boxes, tires, whiskey bottles, fishing line, orange yarn and fire rings. I regretted not having a garbage bag with me. Name the day and I'll be there.

I don't have a truck to haul anything, but I'd be glad to come help and also chip in some money towards the cost of the dump fees.

Re: Creek Cleanup needed Bad???
I fished the creek on Sunday and saw all kinds of garbage, I was above eagle fern at the bridge. There is a little runoff creek alongside the road that has about 10 tires in it. I filled my backpack full of garbage when I left and it didn't even make a dent in all the trash that was still lying around. I would be down to go if it is on the weekend, I don't have a truck but I am an extra set of hands.

Re: Creek Cleanup needed Bad???
...what Pete said, but last weekend for me. I can get a couple of those picker-uppers thingys that the maintenance guys use around campus. Looked like a few parties we use to have at Dittlers Beach in high school last weekend when I was up there. Sure hope what I saw WASN'T fishermen.
I'm in for Feb. 2nd Mofish. Name the time and meeting location.

Re: Creek Cleanup needed Bad???
If we could have it like @ 10, that would give me a little time to get some fishing in before hand. I would really appreciate that.
Plus, more time for those who live farther away to get there. Just my .02

Wiser?, good idea about the buckets ...I'll grab a few. One box of gloves should be MORE than enough
Clean the creek in the AM...cast the creek in the PM.

That works for Me.
I will be watching for more sign ups and put a list together the first of the week and post.
It would be great if we could get 20 or 30 people to help.
I will be praying.
Mofish.

Re: Creek Cleanup needed Bad???
Just to recap ... the idea of meeting at Carver to help folks find their way and coordinate clean up locations is a good one. If folks each have a location, they can make their own decisions on whether to fish or pick up first.
For those who aren't familiar with where Eagle Creek is, maybe this will help.

Re: Creek Cleanup needed Bad???
I would definately like to pitch in as well. I've been there a couple weekends this month, and I can't believe the garbage! I grab a few cans on the way out, but it doesn't help. Trash is one of the reasons the public just lost an access point to the upper river (that and shooting fish out of the fish ladder!). I wish there was a way to tell these idiots to just put that palstic/aluminum/cigarette box back in their backpack.

Re: Creek Cleanup needed Bad???
Mofish I can help, even can bring my oldest daughter out with me. Only thing is my Weekends are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday. I really think these kinds of things are really worth while. Let me know if I can help.
Opps should have read down farther, I just started my new shift this week, so I know I won't be able to take it off to help out, sorry about that.

Re: Creek Cleanup needed Bad???
MoFish
I recently participated in a local creek clean –up and would like to make the following recommendations. First, you should contact someone at the Clackamas basin council, they should be able to help you with trash bags and perhaps dump fees. The two following people are who are currently listed for that basin council:
Michael Carlson e-mail “crbc@clackamasriver.org” (503) 650-1256
Gordon McGhee e-mail “gmcghee@crwater.com” (503) 722-9241
Second, if there are a lot of old tires, because of the disposal fees you may wish to contact a local tire dealer and get them to take any tires collected for free. Tell them you will mention their name on Ifish.
Third, when all is set to go, inform the local papers as to what you will be doing and try to get it in the paper. This is not just so you will get recognition but to get more people involved for this and the next clean up. Every little bit helps
Good luck

I only live about 10 minutes away. So tell me when and where to be and I'll be there. This area get's alot of abuse and deserves better. Great idea MoFish! Hey is this just an excuse for you to tell us all your biggest fish story?

Re: Creek Cleanup needed Bad???
To bad I work every sat. Till three but I fish the creek a lot and I always take a bag of trash out there with me to bad someone could not get hold of the land owner that shut the upper creek off and as a good gesture ask if we could go down a clean that section up God knows it needs it. And if you are still up there after 3pm fishing ore cleaning I will head up its about ten to 15 min. from my work I will drive on up and help out. Or just fish with a bunch of ifisher for a few hours.

Re: Creek Cleanup needed Bad???
Hey Ryan,
That's a good idea, but it turns out the Oregon Fishing Club got access to the land by promising to patrol with security people (to keep the public out) and pick up the trash. So the trash problem not only took the access away from the public, but it put another feather in the hat of an exclusive group of fishermen.

Re: Creek Cleanup needed Bad???
Hey don't buy gloves I have a box left over from my recent fiberglass adventure. Carver Cafe at 7am, Feb 2? I have a pickup truck and rain gear.
Where is Carver Cafe?
I really like that Eagle fern park, sorry to hear it got so trashed up. Thanks Mofish for the idea. Who can we call in the media to get some PR and maybe a few extra hands?

Re: Creek Cleanup needed Bad???
I have never fished Eagle Creek, but, I'm willing to put in some hours picking up trash so I can see the creek. I guess I would be able to tell the best spots to fish based on how high the trash is piled!
