Re: Montana Kokanee
If you are going to be as far north as Libby, I have fished the lower Thompson and McGregor for kokes

Re: Montana Kokanee
Lake Mary Rohnan used to have a great fishery for large Kokes. i have not fished it in a long time , but it might be worth checking out.

Re: Montana Kokanee
Montana fish and wildlife has a good batch of info on their web site for the NW region. http://fwp.mt.gov/regions/r1/fishingGuides.html There is a list of kokanee lakes on that page that may be helpful.
Don't limit yourself to kokes while you're there. The flyfishing in the streams can be unreal and if you're taking a boat I highly recommend hitting flathead lake for some top notch lake trout fishing.

Re: Montana Kokanee
I live in Libby and there are several good kokanee lakes around. Lake Koocanusa has a pile of fish but avg. around 8 inches. The limit is 50 per day so they add up. Middle Thompson lake is good for bigger fish 12 inches plus with a limit of 10 per day. Also Crystal lake has a lot of nice fish 12 inches and over with a limit of 20 per day. If you need any more info or specific areas of the lakes pm me. Let me know if you come through here and I can tell you where the best fishing is at that time.

Re: Montana Kokanee
Pishkun Res. (sp?) west of Choteau (Sp). Went there when I was in high school with my grandparents. We caught some dandies out of there. Biggest was almost 6lbs., also has northern pike in it.

Re: Montana Kokanee
Yeah, Pishkun does have kokes.....there are also two smaller lakes connected to it. They also have them...plus some nice, and I mean reaaaallly nice rainbows in them. We caught the bows, trolling through the canals that connected all 3 lakes.
