SKI BOAT on the Clack!!!!
Did anyone else see this? I understand that someone put a ski boat w/Johnson/prop put in at Carver yesterday afternoon. After a few trial runs/bumps/bangs down by the island, back up to Carver, they actually went all the way down to Riverside. COURSE, by the time they made it there, the entire lower end was no longer attached to the motor. Now that would have been worth seeing. I wonder where the lower end landed??? Great!!! Now we have a new snag somewhere.

Re: SKI BOAT on the Clack!!!!
Hey Jimmy...when we were taking out at Riverside, as I was getting into my truck I could see just the Sheriff's boat, with it's "Blue Light Special" lights flashing. As I backed down the ramp, I could see what appeared to be a 16 foot fiberglass tri hull, sideways on the ramp. A rope connecting it to the Sherriff's boat. As we were putting the boat on the trailer, the Sheriff said to one of the boats' occupants....."So you went below Carver, and you couldn't get back up?????..."

Re: SKI BOAT on the Clack!!!!
That's what happends when the Oregonian writes articles about how good the steelhead fishing is. Thats really dangerous, when some fool goes out and does stuff like that. The fishin is not even as good as they say it is.

Re: SKI BOAT on the Clack!!!!
Righ on Marky, that is the type persons that don't consider the source," The Orgonian" The weather man has a better shot at getting it right than they do. Occasionally they get things right so I'll back off and give them a little credit.
FM, did you here the boaters response to the sheriff? I'm sure it was something like " Well, I tried to go back to Carver but I kept hitting rocks.
Now we'll see a movement to dredge the river to make it user friedly. Wait till the ACLU get hold of this one!!!!!!

Re: SKI BOAT on the Clack!!!!
There was one at Sollie the other day too! Backed up on the ramp like they were going to put in and go down. YIKES!
I hope someone was nice enough to let them know that wouldn't work too well....
Why don't people ask, or read, or... Would you put in somewhere where you didn't know the water at all?
It's like driving at night without headlights!
Or-- trying to think without a brain!

Re: SKI BOAT on the Clack!!!!
This reminds me of when a brand new bayliner tried to go downriver about two springs ago right at Carver. The brilliant new owner of this large 20+ foot vessel tried to give his family a nice boat ride one afternoon. Pretty much the same thing happened except this guy did not make it through the first riffle. his entire lower unit broke away from the boat and the brand new bayliner ran aground. The family tried to make it across to dry land but they could not because of the fast moving current. The sheriff boat had to come and "rescue" them. The boat was there for a few days until they were able to pull it off the rocks. I hope they had it insured!!!

Re: SKI BOAT on the Clack!!!!
we saw the guy and kids about 1:30. They were back trolling in front of the boat ramp then when we were under the bridge, he passed us heading downstream.
I think I heard BOE tell him that the water was at least 10' deep all the way to the mouth...
no not really, he just went around us and we looked at each other as asked where he was going.. Now we know.

I don't believe they insure against 'Incidental Stupidity'. As a friend always says 'all it takes to be king on the water is some money'.

Re: SKI BOAT on the Clack!!!!
Yea, the Fourth of July tri-hull went by us around the rock garden area. I had to yell at the guy expaining that I was anchored and he was about two feet from my rope !!! Good thing we got the fish before that. They were still messing with the motor as they went by. It was still actually runnning then. Kind of .I doubt he made it thru the next riffle tho, it was pretty shallow like most are. I thought he was brave to be pulling plugs in front of the ramp. I've seen spots that are pretty shallow there. Anyone see them bust out skiis ????

Re: SKI BOAT on the Clack!!!!
When we took out at Riverside the sheriff was
just finishing up with these guys. He finished his paper work and handed it to the guy that was running the boat explaining that they could not allow him to endanger himself or others in that manner. The one guy in our boat gave him a ride back to Carver to pick up his rig. Found out that they received a citation for not having enough life vest in the boat. If there is one for stupidity he should have received that on also.
