Default Prices------Whats up with this!!!!!!

Stoped in at Walmart last night and was looken to pick up a new 6501-cl3.
In side the show case they hade a 6501-cl3 left hand retreve,$56.95.
They hade a right hand retreve for $69.95??

The sales person said they cant sell a right hand retreve reel for the same price as a left becouse his boss said no one wants a right retreve
reel.

Now apples to apples, the same reel just one is right---and one is left, $13.00 dollars difference??

Can this be true?? or is the sales man full of hooie!!!

Any in put would be Great.----RIVER-RAT.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Not true in the NW but for the country as a whole it is. That's why they're not made in all models and by all manufactures, they just don't sell accross the nation.

I think Dr. Dave is right here. It's the old supply and demand.

seems like if the right hand retrieve reel was harder to sell it should be cheaper then the left hand retrieve model. one thing you need to keep in mind is the fact that walmart is an east coast store and on the east coast or east of the rockies as far as that goes everyone fishes with the wrong hand and for bass

I never got why someone one would want to reel with their strong arm and fight the fish with their weak arm.

do you suppose left handed bass fishermen fish with left hand retrieve reels so they can have to switch hands when they cast?

Manufacturers list is the same for both models. Buy 5000 5500C's and you get a substantial price break, but since you can't sell the same amount of 5501C's, you have to buy fewer. Since they are not the same line item on the order, the price will be higher for the 5501C. One thing to consider though, the 5501C will hold it's value better in the long run because fewer were manufactured.

It's pretty simple really. People on the left coast prefer left hand reels. People on the right coast prefer right hand reels.

YEA, YOU ALL HAVE TO PICK ON THE FOREST GUMPS OF THIS WORLD BUT IT'S FUN TO FISH WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE DIFFERENT THAN YOU, I CAN THROUGH A CURV IN A LINE OF FISHERMANS BUT WE ALL GET ALONG, I THINK I AM GOING TO BUY A 6000, IN RIGHT HAND RETREVE AND PUT BRADED LINE ON IT AND SEE HOW MANY FISHERMANS I CAN HAVE FUN WITH ( NOT REALY )

When you can see a good buy and than they wont seel you the one you want it's makes me go kinda side ways, MONEY IS JUST THAT, and it don't come the way it use too.

MUST RESIST THE TEMPTATION........
MUST RESIST THE TEMPTATION........

Sorry, could not resist!

Maybe it's just a Left Brain/Right Brain kind of issue?

Left Brain= Logical, Sequential, Rational, Analytical, Objective, Looks at parts

Right Brain= Random, Intuitive, Holistic, Synthesizing, Subjective, Looks at wholes

I'm ambidextrous, which is synonymous with "really screwed up".

Even if the material costs are the same between both models, the "setup" cost to manufacture a smaller quantity(right hand model) has to be spread out over the number being manufactured, and therefore increases the individual price. Setup cost in a manufacturing environment can be substantial. If the reel is made in the orient..............never mind................it's supply and demand. I would ask to speak with the manager, and tell him that he should check his cost between the two, and if they are close, then the price should be the same. It may be that they are using the left hand retrieve as a low profit item to attract business. In any event, Walmart is extremely customer conscious, and typically will bend over backward to satisfy you.

Simple answer here is.....
Buy the reel at GIJoes or Bi-mart! Same price whether you buy a left hand reel or the other screwed up one!!
