Well as far as finding the ring goes...we failed.
Maybe the water pushed it downriver a bit or under a rock...maybe I just suck at finding stuff. We gave it a try for a half hour in thigh deep water.
Sorry Breck.
As to the fishing though

Yes we had a great day.
You know it is gonna be a good day when you are netting a fish fifty feet from the boat launch. Running a pirate wiggle wart Breck put my lure right in the mouth of a nice little 7 lb brat. That fish wanted that lure. It had every point of each hook imbedded in its mouth.
We stopped to float some jigs and Breck anchored me right on top of a truckfull of Native Chromers. I pulled one from the slot that was like staring into the sun it was so brite. A quick net and hook release and off it went...Moments later Breck set the steel into another chromer that spent more time in the air that under the surface. The judges gave it straight 9.9's for its accrobatic display. Breck, being a gentle soul allowed the fish to swim away unharmed from a distance of twenty yards to ruturn to the gene pool.
We each had some take-downs that we just plain missed.
If you ever get a chance to spend some time with Breck don't pass it up. Great boat-mate. Easy to chat with, knows his stuff and can thread a boat through the rocks like he was born with oars in his hands.
