7:30am Bite is On at Sellwood
Hooker and I are excited watching five hookups on nets hittin the water. Yes he did, Oh Chiefy was in on one as always. But it's exciting watching it turn on. About 30 boats working the bridge. Will give updates as we see them. Happy Hooker is losing it, like a bird dog just smelled one and is jumping around all over. I plan on getting in on some of this on Monday if I can hold out that long.

Re: 7:30am Bite is On at Sellwood
Gottafish- I don't fish the Willamette or Sellwood, but from my understanding this is strictly a trolling show. Also, I heard to use a diver or four ounces of lead, 14 pulls. I've never tried, that's just what I recall from a previous post on the matter. Hope that helps, TOC.

Sellwood bridge update as of 2:15pm. Well fellas the fish have come and went. A flurry of action early, 4 fish caught ( two throw backs) that we actually saw. Looked to be more activity all over the bridges water, all before 9:00am. Still several boats down below us (green can/Willie park) area. Currently only 6 boats under the bridge. Somebody has to catch an evening fish. I do know the fatter fish tend to sleep in.

Re: 7:30am Bite is On at Sellwood
Turtle, Team Cast and Blast was out there this AM. Water a little on the dark side. We saw a couple caught. We hollared at the boys at the gas pump - we asked if one of them was "Turtlesoup" - they looked at us like we were crazy. We were in a White NorthRiver. Fishing was slow for most.
During break time, Boatdog helpd tail a 52" sturgeon for a guy on the dock at Sellwood park - it was a nice feesh!
Fun day all in all - thanks to TCAB and Boatdog's friend Dan who owned the NR boat.

Re: 7:30am Bite is On at Sellwood
I am a rookie as well when it comes to salmon, but would love to learn as much as possible.
Any info on setups for different locations, diagrams and pictures of how to run a diver with a Kwikfish or hearing, or if you even need to use a diver I have tried doing a search on springer setups and found some info, and I also realize that experience is something that cant be taught. I just want to be in the salmon like everyone else!
I have heard about the sellwood bridge area being troll only, is that one of those unwritten rules, or is it in the regs? I don't mind either way, just curious.

Re: 7:30am Bite is On at Sellwood
Surejam, I'm pretty certain that Sellwood is troll only by tradition and norm only. Also, here is a picture bobby (Big'n'bright) put up a couple weeks ago of a trolling setup without a diver, but weight instead. Trollin' Also if you want a good, very visual idea of what sort of rigs to use, Fishermen's always has their rods rigged up with varies techniques!

trolling only is a unwriten rule at sellwood. early in the year you can find some guys by the green can fishing from anchor but when the river turns on it's all trolling. You can use weight 4 to 6 oz instead of a diver, fish 12 to 17 pulls deep and you should be good to go

So next time they will be able to tell you about the legend in his own mind. Thanks for asking for me and if you need any updates give me a holler.

Re: 7:30am Bite is On at Sellwood
Same thing on Sunday, about 7:30 there were six or seven hook up's, one or two wild fish, one lost on tackle poorly tied then it went dead for the rest of the morning ... just about ebb tide, hour after sunrise.
