Default No smelt today! Cowlitz Saturday 3/6/04

Just got back from my smelt exploratory trip and zero smelt dipper's, zero birds, sea lions and longfin's.
Talked with the owner of Carnival Market and he said none yet and he is not optomistic that there will be anymore.

But stranger things have happened and it is still not too late and with the good indicators of a good run and the smelt haven't shown elsewhere, you never know.

This is a quote from another thread that was posted after I left for the river:

Quote:
Just got off the phone with a friend who dipped for about a hour before work this morning he got a few but not worth the time he said. So there are some it sounds like

So I'll check again later this morning before I leave for my daughter's 7th birthday if this flu allows me to go.

Dan

Thanks Dano, I appreciate your update on the smelt situation in the Cowlitz. I am also optomistic about another run in the next couple/few weeks, got my stuff in the truck, just give me the word, & I'm there! Take care!

My thanks as well Dan. I saw the first thread, and was about to call my buddy, and hit the road. I guess we'll hang the nets back up, and do a little smelt dance or something
I really appreciate all you scouts, and this board in general. It's the greatest

Tight lines and full nets to all

Yea well I went back about 9:30 am and the same scenario except this time there were two sturgeon fishermen but they said they hadn't a bump yet, sturgie or smelt.

I'll go take one last look just for the heck of it and that's it for the day.
This flu has really kicked my but.

Had to cancel going to my daughters birthday party. :depressed:
